Revision in expiry day for BANKNIFTY weekly options contracts

Effective September 4, 2023, Bank Nifty weekly options will expire on Wednesdays. Existing weekly options with a Thursday expiry date will be changed to Wednesday from September 2, 2023, on Kite. Monthly expiry contracts will continue to expire on the last Thursday of each month.

Expiry Day Current Expiry Day Revised Expiry Day
Weekly contracts Thursday of every week excluding the expiry week of the monthly contract
  • All existing weekly contracts shall expire on Wednesday of every week
  • If Wednesday is a trading holiday, then the expiry day is the previous trading day
Monthly & Quarterly contracts Last Thursday of the expiry month
  • No change in expiry day
