About Parle Products

About

Parle Products is one of India’s largest and oldest fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) companies, founded in 1929 by the Chauhan family in Mumbai. It is best known for its flagship brand Parle-G, widely regarded as the world’s top-selling biscuit. Over decades, the company has built a diversified portfolio including brands such as Monaco, KrackJack, Hide & Seek, Melody, and Mango Bite. With a strong rural and urban distribution network and presence across multiple price segments, Parle remains a dominant player in India’s biscuit and confectionery market.

IPO Announcement and Timing

Parle Products is currently in early-stage discussions with investment banks for a potential initial public offering (IPO). The company has reportedly engaged leading banks such as Kotak Mahindra Capital, JM Financial, and Axis Capital, with formal pitches expected to progress around mid-May 2026. However, the company has not officially confirmed any IPO plans or timeline, and discussions remain exploratory.

Indicative Valuation, Size and Structure

Media reports suggest that the proposed IPO could be around $1 billion (~₹8,000–₹9,000 crore) in size. The structure is likely to be entirely secondary (offer for sale), meaning existing shareholders—primarily the Chauhan family—would dilute part of their holdings, with no fresh capital raised by the company at this stage. This approach is typical for long-standing, family-owned businesses seeking liquidity while retaining control.

Business Performance and Future Plans

Parle Products reported total income of approximately ₹16,191 crore for FY2025, placing it close to listed peer Britannia Industries. The company continues to benefit from strong demand in rural markets while expanding its footprint in premium categories such as cookies and health-oriented products. Industry trends indicate a shift from mass glucose biscuits toward premium, oats-based, and low-sugar offerings, which aligns with Parle’s diversification strategy. Going forward, the company is expected to focus on product premiumisation, distribution expansion, and sustaining its leadership in a growing biscuit market projected to reach ₹1.64 lakh crore by 2030.
