Introducing glyde by Quicko

December 23, 2021

When we started off, one of the things we were aware of was that taxation for traders was never simple. We have explained how taxation works for traders and investors in the Varsity module on taxation. We could always do more, so we partnered with Quicko, a startup to help people file taxes easily, via our Rainmatter initiative in 2020. Now, by popular demand, Quicko has launched a mobile app, Glyde, to help you file taxes easily. Check out the post by the Quicko team below introducing the app.

If 2021 had to be summed up in one word, it would be “change”. Classrooms changed into Zoom meets, laptops became movie theatres and mobile phones transformed into trading and investing devices. So we thought, why not change the way we do taxes as well?

That is when we came up with glyde – our all-new mobile app.

Fancy a tour? glyde on…we mean hop on

  1. Superfast Onboarding: Setting up your profile can be a nightmare for many. Filling up that long list of details that never seemed to end, choosing which ITR to file and whatnot. We definitely don’t want you to go through that all over again. with glyde just enter your PAN, verify via OTP and you are all set to embark on your tax filing journey.
  2. Get pre-filled ITR: Tired of chasing your employer for Form 16, tracking your tax credits from Form 26AS, collecting & arranging documents including investment proofs & trading statements… We could go on and on. Let’s just cut to the chase. Simply connect your Income Tax Account and glyde will fetch your incomes, deductions, tax credits, bank accounts to present you with pre-filled ITR. Your job? Just review it.
  3. Plugs into your favourite apps: A big hello to all the investors and traders out there. We just had one question. Do you enjoy sifting through your trades for hours to figure out your short term or long term gains? No? Then why spend time doing that? With glyde, just log in with your Kite account and import all your equity, intraday, mutual fund and F&O trades, calculate, review & file your taxes without breaking a sweat.
  4. E-file instantly: Wondering how long will it take to file your ITR, hours, minutes? Swipe to file your ITR and receive an instant Confirmation and Acknowledgement number. Oh wait, you have to e-verify your ITR too! How? At once using Aadhaar OTP.
  5. Track Refund on-the-go: You have filed & e-verified your ITR on time. What next? Where is your refund? When will you get it? Feeling clueless. With glyde, track your refund and know where it is – every step of the way.

That’s not all. We didn’t just want to build something awesome and just stop at that. Coming your way are exciting updates where you will be able to spot tax saving opportunities, make instant tax payments & earn badges along the way and more.. In short, your taxes will get a whole lot rewarding!

So what are you waiting for? Start glyde’ing already.

  6. Srinivas Devagiri says:

I have just started trading from Oct 2021. Only loss till now. I was nri. Now in India. Not filed IT return till now. Is it necessary to file IT Return in Dec 21 only even if I have started trading in Oct 2021 ? Please guide me.

    • Team Quicko says:

Hey Srinivas, an NRI needs to file their return only for the incomes they earn in India. Since you started trading in FY 2021-22, you can report your gains/losses incurred when filing your ITR in AY 2022-23.

  7. Vikas Laxman Kshirsagar says:

    Sir,

Notification on Kite says, it is mandatory to fill ITR ‘even if I am having losses?’ Is this applicable when I am having total income above basic exemption limit?

    For FY 2020-21
    My FnO loss= -10k
    My equity Short term profit=70k
    Long term profit=00k

I don’t have any other income source that share marketing as I am unemployed person. Thus my total income is less than basic exemption limit (taken seperately for FnO(business) and STCG.)

Is it still mandatory for me to file ITR if I don’t want to carry forward my losses? Please tell.

    • Team Quicko says:

Hey Vikas, for you to carry forward losses and set them off against future gains you need to file ITR before the due date. In case your total income is below the exemption limit, you won’t have any tax liability.

  8. SUBRAMANIAN N says:

Ji, a video how to fill tax return, covering F and O, LTCG, STCG and intra day profit or loss and also showing each and every expenses deducted by Zerodha, for f and o, intraday and also consolidated expenses like DP charges etc. No video is there showing where each and every expenditure deducted by zerodha is to be shown. So it will be of much help.

  9. RUshikesh Kulkarni says:

What is benefit of having an app in My phone for once in a year activity. Wouldn’t a website suffice for it?

    • Team Quicko says:

Hey Rushikesh, you file your taxes only once a year, but you plan it all year round – trying to spot every opportunity to save taxes. We are soon releasing tax planning features as well where you’ll be able to visualize your Tax P&L, spot tax-saving opportunities, calculate and pay advance tax, and more. Stay tuned!

    • Team Quicko says:
