Introducing Trade From Charts (TFC) at Zerodha

May 7, 2025

Trading is all about making quick decisions when you spot opportunities. When you see a promising pattern on your charts or when your technical indicators signal a potential trade, you need to act fast. Until now, this meant moving between chart analysis and order placement screens, which required extra steps during important market moments.

Trade from Charts (TFC) on TradingView charts has been one of the most requested features, and we are happy to bring it to Kite web. Now you can place orders directly from your TradingView (TV) charts without switching screens. Spot an opportunity and act on it immediately, all in one view.

If you are using ChartIQ and want to switch to TradingView, go to My Profile on Kite web, scroll down, and click on TradingView.

Here’s what you can do with Trade from Charts (TFC)

Quick market prices and easy order placement

When you open a chart, you’ll see Buy and Sell buttons at the top that show real-time prices:

  • Buy button shows the best ask price
  • Sell button shows the best bid price

This gives you the best available prices without checking market depth separately.

Placing an order is simple:

  1. Click Buy or Sell
  2. Check the order type (Market orders are default)
  3. Enter quantity
  4. Confirm your order

For faster access, use keyboard shortcuts: Shift+B to buy or Shift+S to sell.

Orders at specific price levels

To place limit or stop-loss orders at exact prices:

  1. Hover over your price on the chart
  2. Click the plus icon
  3. Enter your order details

This makes placing orders easier because you can see exactly where your price levels are on the chart compared to current market movements.

Orders on chart

All pending orders appear on your chart. You can:

  • Drag and drop to change the prices
  • Click to modify an order
  • Click X to cancel orders or close positions

Please note that with Instant order placement on, orders are placed immediately without confirmation.

Executions

Show or hide arrows on candles that mark your trades for easy tracking.

Positions display

Positions are shown by default. You can hide them if required. You can also exit the positions by clicking on X.

Display P&L as:

  1. Actual money (₹200 profit/₹150 loss)
  2. Tick size (price change)
  3. Percentage (of investment)

Reverse button

When hovering over any position, a Reverse button appears that upon clicking:

  • Closes your current position
  • Opens an opposite position at the same quantity

If sufficient funds are not available, the reverse action is not executed, and the existing position remains unchanged.

Perfect for quickly changing direction when markets shift. You can hide this if you prefer.

For custom layouts, you can:

  • Turn on or off price lines across the chart
  • Align positions and orders to the right, left, or center

Instant orders

Enable one-click orders without confirmation screens (use carefully). Orders will be placed instantly using whatever settings were previously selected in the order window. For instance, if you had MIS (intraday) selected when placing previous orders, the instant order placement feature will use MIS when executing new orders.

With instant orders enabled, adjust quantity using:

    • Manual entry
    • Quick-select values (1, 5, 25, 100, 500, 1000)
    • Plus/minus buttons that change by:
      • Lot size for F&O contracts
      • Single units for stocks
    • Clear (C) button to reset
    • Reset button for default quantities

Instant order placement applies throughout the chart for:

  • Market orders
  • Limit orders
  • Stop losses
  • Exiting positions
  • Reversing trades
  • Modifying existing orders

Chart alerts

Create price alerts directly from charts:

  1. Click Add alert
  2. The instrument, condition, and price fill automatically
  3. Adjust if needed and confirm

Trading settings

Customise your chart with these options:

Buy/Sell buttons: Show or hide them as needed.

Sound alerts: Turn order execution sounds on or off.

Have questions about the Trade from Charts feature? Please share them in the comments below.

Note:

  • Good Till Triggered (GTT) orders and holdings are not displayed on Charts.
  • Trade from Charts (TFC) on TradingView is currently available only on Kite web and will soon be available on the Kite app as well

  7. Alka Verma says:

1.Introduce option chain on charts. its become very easy to trade options.
2.Feature stop loss or target money wise like some one can make it 500 or 1000 or as per the persons capacity .
    3. Space problem in the on both side while seeing the chart and watchlist. It will be good if this(Watchlist) can be to see the full chart on the same page without going or open new tab.

  8. Raj Rajan says:

Integrating option chain as pop-up window open/close on top of chart is a key feature required (similar to Dhan) to select charts on multiple layout windows quickly. I guess this is not going to take lots of time and please focus on it. Zerodha technical team needs to bring the missing josh and get on to inventions quickly else will keep loosing customers.

  9. SHHK says:

    Suggestions for Improvement
    Bracket Order Integration

Allow users to set default stop-loss and target levels that are placed automatically with every entry order.

    Customizable Hotkeys

Enable users to assign their own keyboard shortcuts for different order types, quantities, and actions.

    Multi-Chart Support

Allow simultaneous TFC panels on multiple charts for traders who scalp several instruments at once.

    Order Confirmation Safeguards

Add optional “double-tap” or “hold-to-confirm” for instant orders to minimize accidental trades.

    Pre-set Order Templates

Let users save and quickly apply order templates (quantity, order type, SL/target distance) for ultra-fast execution.

    Quick Close All

A single button to close all open positions and cancel all pending orders-vital for risk management during volatile moves.

    Conclusion
TFC is a significant upgrade for scalpers on Zerodha.
It brings speed, convenience, and visual clarity to the trading process, allowing you to react to market moves instantly. However, for professional scalping, a few enhancements-especially around bracket orders, hotkeys, and multi-chart support-would make it even more powerful.

  10. sunil says:

Stop loss and limit orders should be placed along with the position order

  11. sunil says:

When the position is cancelled, the stop loss and limit orders should also be cancelled immediately. Please pay attention to this future as well.

  12. Aakash says:

I leave zerodha long time ago cause of Target stoploss is not made at a time . Gtt order not there with entry sl and tgt, worst working and trading for us ,

  13. tejnarayan says:

    STRADDLE CHART IS NOT AVAILABLE

  14. Pnbakshi says:

Not up to mark like Dhan, Angel, fyers

  15. Madhabi dhar says:

Thanks Zerodha Team for this new feature. Pls add Higher High and higher low indicator on trading view chart in kite app

  16. Md Mijajul Haque Barbhuiya says:

Target stoploss is not made at a time .

  17. K B Raut says:

Convenience at its best for scalping.

  18. RIYAZ says:

I APPERCIATE BUT NEED OPTION CHAIN ON CHART SO THAT ONE CLICK I GO TO SELECT OPTION STRIKE . IF POSSIBLE INSERT

  19. Rajat Verma says:

    Coooolll,,,,,….

  20. Vijay Mhetar says:

Your chart alert sucks. They are just merely based on a level with if price greater than or less than a perticular level. I want the alert if a candle closes above/below preceding candle high/low respectively on 5M and 15M charts.

    • Mou says:

      1. Kite alerts including gtt orders executions must be notified immediately on the phone notification instead of only in the email.
      2. When a gtt order is placed for an existing position but the trade is executed manually, then the gtt order must be cancelled automatically. Otherwise a new trade order gets executed in the opposite direction according to gtt order even after closing the position manually.
      3. Watchlist column must be allowed to hide if required. I mean a hide/show button in watchlist will allow us to use the charts in full screen with out going to a new tab.

  21. Arvind says:

When are we getting this tfc feature in mobile App. Also is there any trail stop loss which could automatically trail on giving a specific value or movement of price?

  22. Kirtikumar karshanbhai vaghadiya says:

    Hi

  23. Aswin says:

Need the same in Nifty, Bank Nifty charts.

  24. ASHWIN SHETH says:

    Paid hai ya free

  25. Sunil Gupta says:

    Thanks !

Please also make available this TFC feature in kite mobile app, as I do trading through mobile app only. Hope for early implementation.

  26. Chiragtanti says:

This feature is APPLICABLE IN KITE APP ALSO?

  27. Kalpesh says:

Biggest change required in zerodha is when we add new scrip/share in watchlist , it\’s added to the bottom most list where in zerodha has increased the same to add 100 from earlier 50.

This needs and immediate change, though this has been communicated repeatedly but this minor basic change is not implemented for a reason only known to zerdha.

    • Chetan Paleja says:

Better show the new script on the top of the list as soon as it is added, user can drag it to the bottom if needed

  28. Krishan says:

I shifted dhan only for TFC feature now no need to stay on dhan ….Bahut Time laga diya zerodha team..

  29. Rahul says:

    Great initiative!

  30. subhajit majumder says:

Need option chain button on chart where we can change the strike price absolutely quick. I hope it will be introduced within next month.

  31. akhilesh dounjekar says:

Zerodha has to also add option chain in the charts pane, suppose I\’m watching nifty index, and if I want to buy a call option then instead of going back to search window back, i should be able to open it from the chart I\’m watching.

  32. srilakshmi says:
