Zerodha monthly update: September 2026

October 8, 2026

We do a lot at Zerodha, but most of it never reaches your inbox, thanks to our strict no-spam policy. This is our monthly roundup of product updates, new features, and everything else happening across Zerodha.

Here’s what happened in September 2026.

Trade From Charts is now on the Kite app

We’ve brought Trade From Charts (TFC) to TradingView charts on the Kite app. You can now place and manage orders directly from charts without switching between screens.

You can place orders using the Buy and Sell buttons, long-press a price level to place limit or stop-loss orders, and drag and drop existing orders to modify their prices.

You can also enable Instant Order Placement for one-tap orders, view open positions with live P&L, and exit or reverse positions directly from the chart. TFC also supports multi-chart layouts, with the option to save up to 10 custom layouts.

Stock SIPs on Kite web have been revamped

We’ve revamped Stock SIPs on Kite web to make it easier to invest regularly in stocks, ETFs, and bonds.
You can now create SIPs directly from Marketwatch, Holdings, or the Orders tab. SIPs can be scheduled daily, weekly, or monthly, based on either a fixed quantity or investment amount.

With amount-based SIPs, you can set how much you want to invest, and Kite calculates the quantity automatically. You can also set custom allocations for multiple securities and link UPI Autopay to debit funds from your bank account before the scheduled investment.

The revamped experience is coming to the Kite app soon.

Option Chain for NSE Commodities

Kite’s Option Chain now supports NSE Commodity derivatives (NCO), including bullion, energy, base metals, and electricity.

You can view Calls and Puts across strike prices, track open interest, and place orders directly from the option chain, without adding individual contracts to your watchlist.

To find these contracts, search for NCO followed by the commodity name on Kite.

Bids is now IPO & Bids

We’ve renamed the Bids section on Kite web to IPO & Bids for better discovery.

You can use this section to apply for IPOs, Sovereign Gold Bonds, Government Securities, and company buybacks. The updated navigation is coming to the Kite app soon.

A faster account opening process

We’ve simplified the Zerodha account opening process by making income proof optional during signup and moving its collection to after eSign.

You can now complete your trading and demat account opening for equities and mutual funds without submitting income proof. If you want to trade F&O or commodities, you can submit income proof during signup or activate these segments later from your Profile.

This also prevents delays in bank verification or Account Aggregator services from holding up registration.

New pre-open session rules and ETF price bands

Stock exchanges have revised the pre-open session rules and ETF price bands.

Under the new rules, market orders can only be placed, modified, or cancelled between 9:00 AM and 9:05 AM. After that, until order entry closes randomly between 9:08 AM and 9:10 AM, only limit orders are allowed.

Gold and Silver ETFs are now included in the pre-open session, helping them discover opening prices before regular trading begins at 9:15 AM.

The exchanges have also changed how ETF price bands are calculated. Instead of using an older NAV, the reference price is now based on the volume-weighted average price (VWAP) during the final 30 minutes of the previous trading session. The permitted price bands also differ across ETF categories.
