Are you making the most of your Zerodha account?

January 24, 2025

Nithin recently made a post on Twitter about how we at Zerodha have never advertised. While this strategy has worked really well for us, it got us thinking — do our customers know everything we have to offer? For example, did you know that we are the only large broker to still offer 0 brokerage for equity delivery orders? Here are 10 more things you can do with your Zerodha account that you may not have known about.

Better options trading with Sensibull

If you trade options, there is no reason not to use Sensibull. Sensibull today offers

  • Options Strategy Builder—Build custom strategies or choose from 30+ ready-made option strategies. View payoff diagrams, analyse scenarios, and trade with a single click.
  • Draft portfolios—Create custom-named portfolios and analyse them. Create and track your trades. Learn and practice trading.
  • Option chain—User-friendly option chain with per-strike Options prices, Open Interest, Greeks, IV, PCR, IV Change, Intrinsic and Time value, and Probability of Profit (POP).
  • Open Interest (OI) analysis—Get clues on market direction using Open Interest, OI Change, and PCR and Futures OI charts
  • FII-DII data—See what the big guys are doing with the complete and easy-to-use breakdown of historical buy-sell data
  • Positions analysis—Track your options positions grouped by underlying. See max profit, max loss, breakeven, etc. Analyse your trades under different market scenarios, visualise the payoffs, modify the strategies, perform adjustments etc.

and much more to help you trade options with lesser risk than YOLO naked options trades. So if you’ve not already checked them out, log into Sensibull today — it’s free for all Zerodha customers.

Margin Trading Facility (MTF)

MTF allows you to buy shares with only partial funds. If used the right way, it can help you take advantage of trading opportunities when you are short on funds. Depending on the stock, you can borrow 2X to 5X of the trade value. Not only that, you can hold onto this leveraged position for as long as you need, with no time-limits! But please remember, MTF is a leveraged product that amplifies your upside and your downside as well. Use it carefully by considering the risks involved and the costs before taking a trade with MTF. Check out this Margin Trading Facility (MTF) blogpost to learn more.

Single ledger for equity and commodities

We’ve recently started offering a single ledger for all segments wherein you can use the same funds to trade in all segments. You can activate the single ledger facility for your account by enabling the Commodity segment here on Console.

Don’t miss out on trade opportunities with Alert Triggers Order (ATO)

With ATO, you can create a basket order that is placed on the exchange when an alert set by you is triggered, allowing you to set up trades or investments at your convenience and not have to worry about constantly monitoring the markets to take a trade.

For example, if you want to buy 1000 shares of company A, 500 shares of company B and sell 500 shares of company C from your holdings, but only if Nifty hits 25,000, you can now create an ATO today, and Kite will take care of the rest.

Check out this Alter Triggers Order (ATO) blogpost to learn more.

Analyse, understand, and manage your portfolio with Console

Console is the central reporting platform for your Zerodha account. Here are a few things you can do on Console:

  • You can check detailed analytics about your portfolio to get insights on your portfolio growth, asset allocation, exposure to different asset classes, sectors and much more.
  • You will have file your taxes in a couple of months. Console is where you download tax-ready reports related to your trading and investing.
  • If you manage the accounts of your family members, you can use the family account features to manage them all easily with their consent.

G-Secs

An ideal portfolio should have a mix of different asset classes, including debt and gold. One of the safest debt investments is government bonds. You can invest in long-duration government bonds, short-duration treasury bills, and state government bonds on Kite. These bonds offer higher yields than most fixed deposits. Treasury bills yield higher than savings accounts and are ideal for parking cash.

No more OTPs to sell demat holdings with DDPI

DDPI (Demat Debit and Pledge Instruction) allows you to sell shares in your demat without having to authorise the sale with an OTP each time. It is a limited, long-standing authorisation allowing us to debit shares from your demat account for only trade-related activities to make the experience of selling shares frictionless. Save for your retirement with National Pension System (NPS)

The one goal we all have to save for is retirement, and the National Pension System (NPS) is a really good low-cost investment option. NPS forces you to invest in a diversified portfolio of equities and debt by default, has a very low expense ratio, is tax-efficient, and locks your investments in until you’re 60 so that you don’t give in to your impulses of fear and greed—it keeps you disciplined.

A few advantages:

  • Tax deduction up to ₹50,000 under Section 80 CCD(1B) over and above the ₹1.50 lakh under Section 80. So, if you want to save taxes and have fully used the Section 80C limit with ELSS, etc., you can claim an additional deduction of ₹50,000 with NPS.
  • You can withdraw 60% of your investment when you turn 60 years old, and this is fully tax-free. The remaining 40% has to be invested in annuity schemes that give you regular income.
  • Makes asset allocation easy. If you want to control your asset allocation, you can choose active choice. If not, you can select an automatic choice that splits your money into equity and debt based on your age.

You can start investing in NPS on Coin. We also have a Varsity module on NPS if you want to learn more.

Subject: Suggestion to Add Stop-Loss (SL) & Target Visualization on Charts

    Dear Zerodha Team,

I have been using Zerodha as my Demat and trading account for over three years, and I greatly appreciate the platform’s reliability and user-friendly features. However, I would like to suggest an enhancement that could further improve the user experience, especially for traders like me who rely heavily on charts for trading decisions.

Currently, many platforms such as Dhan and Fyers offer the ability to visualize stop-loss (SL) and target levels directly on the TradingView chart interface. This feature provides traders with a clear, real-time view of their profit and loss (P&L) on the chart itself, making it easier to monitor and adjust positions without switching between tabs or relying on calculations.

Unfortunately, I’ve noticed that Zerodha’s integration with TradingView does not currently support this functionality. Adding this feature would make Zerodha even more competitive and convenient, aligning with the growing trend of chart-based trading.

    Suggested Implementation:

Display stop-loss and target levels as lines on the TradingView chart when orders are placed.
Allow traders to modify these levels by simply dragging the lines up or down.
Show live profit or loss data next to these levels on the chart, helping traders track their positions visually.
This feature will benefit intraday traders and swing traders alike, providing a seamless experience and improving trade management.

I hope you consider this suggestion for future updates, as it would greatly enhance the trading experience for Zerodha users. Thank you for your continued support and efforts to improve the platform.

Looking forward to seeing more innovations on Zerodha!

    Best regards,
    Manibharathi S

Latest change of moving script control buttons to the right corner in order page, it’s a very bad change.
Often control button clash with order confirmation banners. Also it is very difficult to reach out till the control buttons for particular script.
Till the time we move to the end because of the change in the price script location changes.
Earlier control buttons where close to script name, so it was very easy and faster for placing the orders.
Kindly restore earlier location of control buttons

  29. Vinayak says:

    These are good ones.

One feature I miss on Zerodha is the basket level stop loss and target. Kotak demat account supports this feature. Its useful when making daily or weekly strategies (such as straddle or strangle) and just leave them to this feature for tracking. Please think about it.

    Dear Zerodha Team,

Sorry to say but when comparing to other trading platform you are very behind in giving advance tools and ease in doing trading.

1 – MOST Important – Drawings ( Trendline/ Fibo etc) doesnt gets saved on Zerodha trading view charts. only limited counts. Doesnt helps
2 – Asked for Indicator alerts , Trend line alerts
3 – Create Alert but on same chart window and also simply Right click on chart scale and create alert functions are missing.
4 – Creating Watching list based on sectors/ assign Colors on watchlist. — You provided notes function which is great and helps user why they have added the stock in watchlist. We should be able to create unlimited watchlist.
5 – SHORTCUTS on trading view charts are not functional, only zerodha iq charts and that also doesnt works.
4 – CHART should be open on single click from watchlist , as of now user has to Hover the mouse on stock, find CHART icon and then chart opens.

List is more but atleast you start from here.

  61. Terrence Dsouza says:

    Hi Zerodha Team,

    Greetings! to everyone.

First, let me congratulate the entire team for a wonderful trading platform, I knpw and truly understand that a lot of hard work and dedication goes into creating and maintaining the Kite Platform, console and coin.

I would like to provide my input and suggestions as there are certain functionalities that can be improved which can help the novice and pro traders alike.

    1) Trading view integration with kite is really very limited when it comes to P&F (Point and Figure Charts) and Renko Charts, since these charts require LTP to be plotted in Percentage, the same is not available in trading View, the only available options are Based on ATR value and Absolute (Which is a big bummer), while, when I check on trading view website the same is available. certain functionalities are restricted and not provided (It could be based on the agreement or intergration Zerodha has with trading View).

    2) Whenever I switch to the 1 min TF , the TV chart takes a lot of time to load. and I have to keep switching from Trading view website to Kite which is time consuming.

    3) Trading View version needs to be updated to get in the latest features.

I use Renko and Point and figure charts for my trading, as they are more objective and noiseless in nature and makes it easier to make quick trade decisions.

I hope and trust my suggestions are considered.

    Have a great day!

    Thanks

  62. Kalyanaraman.S says:

Thank you Sir. I find it difficult to place orders on my mobile. This Kite is not user friendly. Previous one was better. Key board slide obstructs the Price area. I missed so many opportunities. I checked the same with Kotak Neo, it is very easy to place order with in fraction of a second. Please do change this in the Kite. I am not getting four graph charts in my laptop. Sometime back I used it. Nowadays it is not coming. Your brokerage is very high.Suddenly you changed the lot size. You shoul have informed through message or mail. Thank you Sir.

  63. Jitendra Kumar Jha says:

    Dear Sir/Ma’am,
Please upgrade your system so that user can buy, sell, Cancle and Modify orders from the chart page directly. User do not need to go other page to do thies things. It should be smooth like DHAN App and Please try to provide refresh chart button also on the same page.

Do the upgrade in such a way that it is easy for the user to work

Do your work in such a way that people themselves thank you. It is not good to praise yourself

  64. Vihaan says:

  72. ravindrababupyneni says:

is it possible to place an order when a stop loss order remain pending. let the fresh order goes, automatically the stop loss order cancels.

    • Shruthi says:

Hi, you can place a stop-loss order, it does not cancel automatically when a fresh order is placed. You will need to manually cancel the stop-loss order if a fresh order is placed against your position. We’ve explained stop-loss orders in detail here. Also, you can use GTT OCO (One Cancels the Other) order type, which allows you to set both a target and stop-loss order simultaneously. When one is triggered, the other is automatically cancelled. Here’s how to place a GTT OCO.

Need to be with market demand as below, other wise we had to change the broker.

I m regular using zerodha pls provide features like
trading on chart as dhan or fayer giving / bracket order facility / trailing stoploss other apps are giving some good feature in option trading so pls needful

  84. Awish says:

I like and trust Zerodha but I am still using other brokers due to missing ‘TAG’ feature in holdings. I requested to add ‘tag’ feature in holding (of course they should be also visible in mobile app) so that I could separate my trades based on my criteria e.g. Short-term, Mid-Term, Long-Term, RSI Based, Swing Trade etc. But they are still ignoring this feature. This is the reason I am using multiple brokers for various purpose. They should provide ‘tag’ feature as well as sorting feature based on tag. I don’t like using multiple brokers and installing multiple apps for various purpose. But Zerodha is not listening and ignoring this important feature. I think they have to only implement this feature in mobile app, as this feature is available on console. But opening console is not easy every time. I want this feature in Kite Mobile app. Hope they will listen soon. I want to make Zerodha my all in one app for trading and investing. I don’t want multiple brokers. Thanks.

  85. Mehul Rajesh More says:

Please add dynamic Bracket order option for intraday.

  86. Hari singh Patel says:

We are expecting following two features
    1. When we set a entry or exit price for antmy stock , a horizontal line/bar should be appear on chart also. Same bar if we moved on chart then entry and exit price also should be get changed /modified. I have seen this feature in angleone broking platform.
    2. Very instant price alert should be on platform. Zerodha price alert is very much lagging, we miss opportunity when alert rings because of it is late alarming.. kindly do the needful

  95. Madhusudan says:

Glad to know about the added features.

  96. jagdish mehra says:

My experience in using kite is bestest everything is good but i face only one problem Zerodha provide “instant withdrawal” if there is any problem in Basket order.the Zerodha should update it in basket order..

  97. Dushyant Mehta says:

Zerodha needs to be more practical and logical in execution of orders.
Suppose , say, if I place a buy order of 100 shares of any scrip X, @₹50/- per share market price, but my fund balance is ₹4990/- and not ₹5000/-, as needed, then in current system, Zerodha cancels the whole order.
Instead software mechanism should be changed and Zerodha should actual buy 99 shares for me and state that full order of 100 shares could not be executed due to insufficient funds .

  98. Sumit Bairagi says:

Mera account chalu kyon nahin ho raha

  99. User says:

    Dear Zerodha Team,

Subject: Request to Enable Auto-Splitting for Large Market Orders

Currently, when placing a market order for Nifty options exceeding 1,800 quantity, I need to manually create a basket order for both buy and sell transactions. This adds unnecessary steps and time, especially when executing trades quickly.

In contrast, brokers like Angel One handle this seamlessly by automatically splitting large orders internally. For example, if I place a 3,000-quantity Nifty CALL option order, their system divides it into 1,800 + 1,200 and executes it instantly, eliminating the need for manual basket creation. This significantly improves user experience, particularly for swing traders who require swift execution.

I would greatly appreciate it if Zerodha could implement a similar feature to enhance trading efficiency.

  100. Md Noor Alam says:

    Verry good zerodha

  101. Narendra Bariki says:

Please build an app for only trading (funds has to be separated from kite app) like coin (where we can buy mutual funds separately or those funds are separated from kite app). So that investing in stocks are separated from trading. There are traders who will plan their funds to be limited in trading account and rest will invest in stock, mf etc,.

sir, we at Zerodha lagging behind new apps like dhan ,mstock and so many others which are offering mind blowing features on their platform.
I a hardcore zerodha fan request you to please introduce following features in our platform.
1.on chart trade feature, like dhan where in we can see profit or loss there itself we can put or modify stop loss on the go.
2.Modify our watchlist as per swing trading system wherin i can add all stocks in one go say for f&o stocks or all midcap stocks or whatever may be my requirement in one go.
3.simlify the percentage high or low feature in watchlist. As i shuffle between current watchlist and another watchlist the it gets reset.
4.for futures we have to first add stock and the watch option chain and then add particular strike price.this is very time consuming. In only one buy/sell window i shall be able to either buy /sell cash, future or option strke.if i want to put buy target and stoploss at the same tme i can not do it swiftly.
5.provide your subscribers with stratagies for stock buying and options buying and futures buying for swing ,positional and intraday purpose. If people start earning it will benift you only. Why not you educate us with premium startagies.
6.if i buy a strike price and suppose i have some profit and i close the posn.Next time when i buy again the same price then same trade continues and we get confused as it shows previous profit and we feel that our new trade is in profit and we square off .afterwards we come to know that it was profit of previous posn .Why not you seperate every order though it may be of same strike price and show profit or loss seperately each time.
7.please add a hide function in indicator section as we can not put so many indicators at same time.we have to analyse having diff indicators.evrytime we have to delete it and add again if hide feature is there we can easily switch indicators.

    Best regards,
    Sagar Vaidya

It would be great if you could add in the “holdings tab” a column for total amount invested. This would be useful to compare with “curr val” column on absolute basis. Currently only avg cost only available.
