Vardhman Special Steels laid the foundation stone for its state-of-the-art forging unit at Ludhiana on 27 July 2026, with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann in attendance. The company committed a total investment of ₹1,116 crore across two phases, a sharp increase from the earlier ₹475 crore plan. The first phase will establish a forging line and a non-destructive testing line, with commissioning targeted for March 2028. A second forging line will be added later based on customer demand. The facility will manufacture ring gears and other precision-forged automotive components for domestic and export markets, leveraging technology from Aichi Steel Corporation of Japan. The project is expected to create over 300 direct jobs and marks VSSL's strategic move into higher-value automotive components, integrating its special steel production with precision forging.
