GLAS Agency (Hong Kong) Limited, acting as security trustee for bondholders, disclosed the creation of an encumbrance over 2,204,724,753 equity shares — 56.38% of the total — of Vedanta Power Limited. The move follows the issuance of US$1.75 billion in guaranteed senior bonds by Vedanta Resources Finance II plc in June 2026, with trust deeds executed on 13 July 2026. The encumbrance arises from contractual restrictions that prevent the promoter group entities from creating additional security interests, disposing of shares outside specified terms, and require the Vedanta Resources group to retain control or own at least 50.1% of Vedanta Power. No pledge has been created over the shares, and the obligations become effective upon execution of supplemental trust deeds.
