Utkarsh Small Finance Bank’s management committee approved the sale of three pools of non-performing and written-off loans to asset reconstruction companies on June 26. The largest pool consists of 1.67 lakh unsecured microfinance accounts with an aggregate principal outstanding of ₹507.42 crore and a reserve price of ₹75.35 crore. A second MFI pool comprises 47,168 accounts with ₹143.12 crore principal and a reserve of ₹20.04 crore, while the third pool contains 288 secured commercial vehicle and construction equipment loans with ₹76.29 crore principal and a reserve of ₹49.59 crore. The bank will now publish an expression of interest advertisement and intends to finalise a counter-bidding process with a 5 per cent mark-up over the binding offers. The sale, if completed, will further reduce the bank’s stressed asset burden following heavy provisioning and loan write-offs in the March quarter.
