April 27 (Reuters) - Mahindra Holidays and Resorts India MAHH.NS reported a 43% drop in fourth-quarter profit on Monday, pressured by sluggish travel demand amid geopolitical tensions.
The company, which operates the premier Club Mahindra brand, derives a significant share of its revenue from vacation properties in Finland, Sweden and Spain, which have been hit by flight disruptions and elevated fuel prices following the Iran war.
Many flights between India and Europe transit through Dubai or other major hubs in the Middle East, which faced airspace closures in the quarter.
"Our international operations continued to be impacted by geopolitical headwinds, a slowdown in the Finnish economy and adverse weather conditions during the year," Managing Director and CEO Manoj Bhat said.
The company's consolidated net profit fell to 415.6 million rupees ($4.41 million) for the quarter ended March 31, compared with 730.8 million rupees a year ago.
Total income from its overseas unit, Holiday Club Resorts, fell to 38.7 million euros ($45.45 million) from 39.7 million euros a year ago.
However, resort revenue rose 11% to 120 million rupees from a year ago, helping offset some of the impact, as more customers shifted toward domestic travel.
The number of members added, a key revenue driver, decreased sequentially by 445, with total memberships standing at nearly 304,000 in the quarter. Membership upgrades grew by 930 million rupees, though, a 33% rise from a year ago.
Overall quarterly revenue climbed 5.3% to 8.2 billion rupees, while total expenses rose 10.5%.
Shares of Mahindra Holidays fell 4.6% after the results.

Updates with analyst commentary in paragraphs 6 and 7, parent results in paragraph 9
By Praveen Paramasivam and Komal Salecha
Feb 12 (Reuters) - Hindustan Unilever HLL.NS reported a 15% decline in quarterly profit on Thursday, pressured by thinner margins as the consumer goods major cut some product prices to counter rising competition, sending shares lower.
The local subsidiary of UK's Unilever ULVR.L, home to Dove and Surf Excel brands, said its profit from continuing operations fell to 25.90 billion rupees ($286.05 million) for the quarter ended December 31.
Shares fell as much as 4.6% after the results.
Total expenses climbed 5%, with EBITDA margins shrinking by 70 basis points from a year earlier to 23.3%, after Hindustan Unilever cut prices in its tea business and home care portfolios, partly to stave off competition.
Hindustan Unilever has grappled with stiff competition in fabric care from startups as well as Ariel detergent maker Procter & Gamble PG.N and India's Godrej Consumer Products GOCP.NS.
Three analysts said Hindustan Unilever's margins missed their estimates. Akshay D'Souza, an independent consumer goods consultant, said the company's focus on distribution-led growth, a slower pace of launches and acquisition spending have squeezed margins.
However, its sales growth improved, rising 4% from a year earlier to 156.14 billion rupees. A 4% increase in sales volume growth is "a bright spot," said Ajay Thakur, research analyst at Anand Rathi Institutional Equities.
Consumer goods makers, including Britannia Industries BRIT.NS and Hindustan Unilever, expect demand to pick up after several subdued quarters, supported by tax cuts and easing inflation that have bolstered urban spending.
Hindustan Unilever expects the fiscal year starting April to be better than the current year. But its parent firm expects 2026 sales growth to be at the lower end of its forecast after a slowdown in the U.S. and Europe.
Hindustan Unilever on Thursday also said it would buy the remaining 49% stake in plant-based food brand Oziva for 8.24 billion rupees.

Corrects total membership count in paragraph 6 to more than 304,000, not more than 3.04 million
Jan 29 (Reuters) - Mahindra Holidays and Resorts India MAHH.NS reported a 94% plunge in third-quarter profit on Thursday, dragged by a one-time charge following the roll-out of India's new labour codes and slower membership growth.
The company's consolidated net profit dropped to 22.3 million rupees ($242,697.84) for the quarter ended December 31, from 348.4 million rupees last year.
Shares were down 1.3% before the results and extended losses to fall about 3% after the announcement.
A one-time charge of 110.62 million rupees, linked to India's new labour codes, weighed on the company's quarterly profit.
India's new labour codes - the country's biggest overhaul of workers' laws in decades - have dragged profits of large corporates, including those of Godrej Consumer Products GOCP.NS, Wipro WIPR.NS and Infosys INFY.NS.
The company offers resorts and sightseeing packages through its Club Mahindra membership and generates revenue through member fees. The pace of member addition slowed to 1,493 new members from 3,000 last year, with total memberships in the quarter standing at more than 304,000.
Total revenue rose 11% to 7.53 billion rupees in the quarter, as compared to 6.78 billion rupees, a year ago.
The company's European operations took a hit from economic pressure and adverse weather conditions in Finland, which in turn had a negative impact on profitability, the company said in a press release.

Jan 31 (Reuters) - Mahindra Holidays and Resorts India MAHH.NS reported a near three-fold surge in its third-quarter profit on Friday, as strong demand for leisure travel boosted the hospitality firm's membership.
The company's shares jumped as much as 7.5% after the results.
Consolidated net profit rose to 348.4 million rupees ($4 million) in the December quarter, from 116.5 million rupees a year earlier, said the company, which provides resorts and sightseeing packages under its 'Club Mahindra' membership programme and earns revenue from membership fees.
Hotel demand has risen significantly, fueled by more people prioritising leisure travel, with popular tourist destinations in north India and Goa seeing notable increases in visitor numbers.
Government efforts to promote tourism and hospitality have also helped the sector.
Mahindra Holidays said it added 3,000 new members during the quarter, taking the total memberships to over 300,000 members.
Its average unit realization, the average revenue generated per membership, grew 37% year-on-year.
Total revenue increased 7% to 6.78 billion rupees, with revenue from its India operations rising 6%.
Total expenses of the company remained flat year-on-year, further aiding its profit growth.
Mahindra Holidays also manages properties in Finland, Sweden, and Spain through its subsidiary, Holiday Club Resorts (HCR). Revenue from the subsidiary rose 6% year-on-year.
Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) rose to 1.78 billion rupees from 1.37 billion rupees a year earlier.

BENGALURU, July 25 (Reuters) - Mahindra Holidays and Resorts India MAHH.NS reported a 99% slump in first-quarter profit on Tuesday, hit by higher expenses and widening losses in Europe.
Consolidated net profit for the company, known for its flagship resorts brand "Club Mahindra," was 1.8 million rupees ($21,992.90) for the quarter through June 30, compared with 297.3 million rupees a year earlier.
Revenue from operations rose 1.6% to 6.14 billion rupees.
Profitability was hit by the low demand in Finland and Sweden, the company said in a statement.
Resort occupancies barely grew one percentage point from a year ago to 90%. Total expenses rose 7.7%, led by higher rent, finance and depreciation costs due to room inventory addition.
Revenue from the Europe, where brands such as Holiday Club Resorts OY or HCRO operate, declined nearly 10%. The segment's loss before tax nearly tripled to 365.2 million rupees.
In India, the profit grew 7.3%, while revenue rose nearly 17%.
The Mahindra Group company, however, was optimistic about this quarter, citing the summer holiday season and a pick up in domestic travel from the last week of June. It also expects demand to continue rising until mid-August.
