April 28 (Reuters) - Engine oil maker Castrol India CAST.NS posted a 3.7% rise in its first quarter profit on Tuesday, supported by higher volumes across rural and premium segments and growth in its industrial business.

The lubricant maker's profit after tax rose to 2.42 billion rupees ($25.60 million) in the quarter ended March 31, from 2.33 billion rupees a year earlier.

Here are the details:

• Revenue from operations increased about 9% to 15.45 billion rupees, driven by continued market-share gains and expansion across rural and urban markets.

• Growth was supported by double-digit expansion in the rural portfolio and continued traction in premium products in urban markets, the company said in an exchange filing.

• Its EBITDA increased 7% year-on-year to 3.29 billion rupees, helped by higher volumes across the automotive and industrial lubricant segments.

Feb 3 (Reuters) - Engine oil maker Castrol India CAST.NS posted a 9.9% drop in fourth-quarter profit on Tuesday, as higher raw material costs and a one-time charge outweighed the boost from sustained demand for its automotive lubricants.

The company's profit after tax fell to 2.45 billion rupees ($27.2 million) in the quarter ended December 31, from 2.71 billion rupees a year before.

The results included a one-time charge of 225.3 million rupees tied to India's recently enacted labour code.

Castrol India supplies lubricants to major automakers, including Maruti Suzuki MRTI.NS and Hero MotoCorp HROM.NS.

Demand for its products was supported by a 17.6% rise in India's vehicle sales during the quarter.

The company's revenue from operations grew 6.4% to 14.4 billion rupees, but total expenses rose 9.2%, driven by an 8% increase in the cost of raw and packing materials.

The engine oil maker, in late December, said that Canada Pension Plan Investment Board and U.S. private equity firm Stonepeak would launch an offer to buy up to 26% of Castrol India, following their deal to acquire the business from BP, giving Stonepeak majority control of the company.

Oct 24 (Reuters) - Engine oil maker Castrol India CAST.NS reported a 6.7% increase in third-quarter profit on Thursday, driven by continued demand for its automobile lubrication products.

The company, in which oil major BP BP.L has a 51% stake, said profit after taxes rose to 2.07 billion rupees ($24.6 million) in the July-September quarter, from 1.94 billion rupees a year ago.

India's overall vehicle sales have been strong for the past few quarters, benefiting companies like Castrol, which generates over 80% of its revenue from the automobile lubricants market.

The company, which also makes industrial lubricants like turbine oils, said revenue from operations grew nearly 9% to 12.88 billion rupees in the quarter.

"Performance was driven by strong volume growth across categories," the company said in a statement, without giving a break up of its revenue distribution.

Its expenses grew 9.5% in the quarter, with the cost of raw and packing materials consumed, among its biggest, increasing 9%.

Castrol India's shares closed 1.8% lower ahead of results. They have risen 15.4% so far this year, while those of smaller peer Gulf Oil Lubricants India GOLU.NS have jumped 60.6%.

BENGALURU, April 30 (Reuters) - Engine oil maker Castrol India CAST.NS reported a 6.8% rise in first-quarter profit on Tuesday, boosted by new product launches and resilient demand for its automobile lubrication products.

The company, in which oil major BP BP.L has a 51% stake, said profit after tax rose to 2.16 billion rupees (nearly $26 million) in the January-March quarter, from 2.03 billion rupees a year ago.

A significant rise in sales of two-wheelers and passenger vehicles during the quarter along with steady demand from existing vehicles benefited Castrol, which derives more than 80% of its revenue from automobile lubricants.

The company, which also manufactures industrial lubricants like turbine oils, said in a statement that the launch of new products significantly expanded its market share across segments.

Revenue from operations grew 2.4% to 13.25 billion rupees, despite soft consumer demand initially in the quarter, Managing Director Sandeep Sangwan said.

Total expenses grew 2.9%, as compared to a roughly 9% growth a year earlier, while the cost of raw materials and packing materials stayed flat in the quarter.

Castrol India's shares closed 0.6% down ahead of its results. They have risen 17.3% so far this year, while those of smaller peer Gulf Oil Lubricants India Ltd GOLU.NS have jumped 43.2%.

BENGALURU, Feb 1 (Reuters) - Engine oil maker Castrol India CAST.NS reported a 25% rise in fourth-quarter profit on Thursday, aided by higher demand for its automobile lubrication products.

The company, which derives about three-fourths of its volumes from passenger and commercial vehicles, benefitted from sustained growth in auto sales and maintenance demand in the world's third-largest car market.

Castrol India's profit after tax came in at 2.42 billion rupees ($29.2 million), up from 1.93 billion rupees a year ago, it said in an exchange filing.

Its revenue rose 7.5% to 12.64 billion rupees.

The company sees "steady inflation and a positive shift in consumer confidence", Chief Financial Officer Deepesh Baxi said in a statement, as it expands its hold onto rural India and tries to warm up with inflation-weary two-wheeler owners.

Its expenses, however, inched up 1.5%, led by employee expenses and other spends, even as input costs stayed largely flat. The company did not specify what these other spends entailed.

Shares of Castrol India ended 3.6% lower before the results were announced.

BENGALURU, Oct 30 (Reuters) - Engine oil maker Castrol India CAST.NS posted a nearly 4% rise in third-quarter profit on Monday on steady demand, while lower raw and packaging material costs helped.

The Mumbai-based firm's profit after tax rose to 1.94 billion rupees ($23.31 million) in the three months ended Sept. 30 from 1.87 billion rupees, a year earlier.

Crude oil prices declined, ranging between $75.4 and $97.69 a barrel in the quarter compared to the range of $83.65 and $114.75 a barrel in the year-ago quarter, helping Castrol India post a 1.3% fall in raw and packaging material costs.

Still, the company's total expenses rose 6% to 9.4 billion rupees on other costs. Castrol India did not specify what these costs entailed.

The company also flagged hardening oil prices at the end of the quarter due to global uncertainties and inflationary pressures. "The recent conflict in the Middle East has brought more challenges to crude price volatility," Managing Director Sandeep Sangwan said.

The company's revenue rose 5.5% to 11.83 billion rupees, in line with its optimism about demand in the second half of the year - expressed in a post-earnings call in August - on easing raw material inflation.

Rainfall in September made up for a deficit in the first half of the quarter, according to analysts, leading to a recovery in rural demand, particularly in sectors such as two-wheelers.

"We continue to build our reach into rural India to tap into demand," Sangwan said in a statement.

Castrol India's shares closed 1.42% higher ahead of its results. They have risen 13% so far this year.

BENGALURU, July 31 (Reuters) - Engine oil maker Castrol India CAST.NS reported a 9% rise in second-quarter profit on Monday, helped by higher sales volumes.

The Mumbai-based firm's profit after tax rose to 2.25 billion rupees ($27.4 million) for the June quarter from 2.06 billion rupees a year earlier.

Castrol's revenue from operations increased 7.4% to 13.34 billion rupees.

The company focused on increased volumes to drive growth as it expanded its portfolio in the premium auto-care range, Castrol said in a statement.

The company has expanded its premium auto-care range with the launch of items like chain cleaners and anti-rust lubricant sprays in May and said it is looking to add more products.

"Despite anticipated challenges in the business environment, we will remain focused on achieving growth and expanding market share," Managing Director Sandeep Sangwan said.

In the service and maintenance segment, Castrol said it has increased its auto service outlets to 350 and bike points to 5,500 by June-end.

The automotive and industrial lubricant manufacturer, however, grappled with soaring costs even after raising prices multiple times over the last year to pass on the elevated commodity costs to consumers.

Total expenses climbed more than 7% to 10.47 billion rupees on the rising cost of raw and packaging materials.

Castrol shares closed down 1.8% at 144.75 rupees after the results, having risen 12.5% in the last six sessions.
