May 28 (Reuters) - Indian initial public offerings of Leela hotels-owner Schloss Bangalore SCHL.NS and Aegis Vopak Terminals AEGI.NS were oversubscribed on Wednesday, hauled across the line by institutional buyers as retail demand floundered.

India's IPO market is still finding its legs after a slow start to the year, following blockbuster listings from companies such as Swiggy SWIG.NS and NTPC Green NTPG.NS in 2024.

India's blue-chip Nifty 50 .NSEI index is up nearly 5% this year but is still more than 5% below record-high levels logged in September 2024, amid uncertainties around global tariffs and worries about their impact to trade.

Proceeds from IPOs are down 29% on-year so far this year, while number of issues have dropped 38%, data from LSEG showed. IPO hopefuls, such as LG Electronics India, have either delayed plans or downsized their issue sizes.

Schloss issued fresh shares and existing investor Brookfield sold some of its stake in the $409 million IPO. Aegis, a JV of Dutch tank storage group Vopak VOPA.AS, only issued new shares in its $328 million offering.

Retail investors, who typically look to pocket listing gains, bid for just 83% of their reserved portion in Schloss' books, while Aegis drew just 77%.

Institutional buyers, including foreign investors and banks, bid for over seven times the shares allotted for them in Schloss, and over three times their portion in Aegis.

"Retail investors and high-net worth individuals recorded lacklustre enthusiasm as they found valuations to be too demanding, especially when markets have still not completely settled and global uncertainty fears loom," said Astha Jain, a research analyst with Hem Securities.

Schloss is targeting a valuation of about $1.7 billion, while Aegis Vopak is aiming one at $3.05 billion. Both the firms are slated to start trading on Indian stock exchanges on June 2.

April 23 (Reuters) - Dutch tank storage group Vopak VOPA.AS has received conditional approval for the initial public offering (IPO) of its Indian joint venture Aegis Vopak (AVTL) from the country's markets regulator, the group said on Wednesday.

Vopak said last November that AVTL - a joint venture between India's Aegis Logistics and Vopak - had filed for an IPO worth 35 billion rupees ($409.70 million) with the Securities and the Exchange Board of India.

The company, which has storage terminals in seven Indian ports, expects to profit from the dynamic growth of the country's economy, with plans to invest in its liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) market, the group told Reuters in February .

The IPO offering will comprise a primary issue of shares, group CFO Michiel Gilsing told Reuters in an interview following the release of Vopak's first quarter results.

As the draft prospectus was approved two weeks ago, Vopak is now working on the updated draft, which it will file shortly, he added.

"The sentiment in the first quarter on the Indian Stock Exchange was not too good. Now it's picking up again (...), the process is moving in the right direction," Gilsing said.

The IPO's proceeds will mainly be utilised for debt repayment and for the acquisition of an LPG terminal in the southern Indian city of Mangalore, Vopak said last November.

Nov 19 (Reuters) - Dutch tank storage company Koninklijke Vopak VOPA.AS said its Indian joint venture Aegis Vopak (AVTL) filed for an initial public offering (IPO) of 35 billion rupees ($414.75 million) on Tuesday with the Securities and Exchange Board of India.

"The formal approval process with SEBI is expected to take several months", it said in a statement.

The IPO consists of a fresh issue of shares, with the parent company not diluting any stake. The proceeds from the IPO will mainly be utilised for re-payment of debt and for acquiring a cryogenic liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) terminal in the Indian city of Mangalore.

Aegis Vopak, in which Aegis Logistics AEGS.NS has a 50.1% stake and Koninklijke Vopak holds over 47%, is among India's largest operators of tank storage terminals for LPG and liquid products.

Domestic LPG demand has remained strong over the past few years, with government initiatives and a rise in industrial activity providing significant support to the sector, AVTL's draft prospectus showed citing data from the Petroleum Ministry and analytics firm CRISIL.

The Indian IPO market has been booming in 2024, with 290 companies raising more than $15.5 billion as of mid-November, which is more than double the amount raised last year, data compiled by LSEG showed.

The red-hot IPO market, however, has recently shown some signs of cooling amid underwhelming corporate earnings and an exodus of foreign funds.
