Embassy Property Developments has pledged 66,81,537 equity shares of Mac Charles (India), constituting 51% of its share capital, in favour of Catalyst Trusteeship as security for non-convertible debentures issued by Calatheas Developments. The pledge was created on 29 July under a debenture trust deed dated 24 July. Mac Charles, which has transformed into a commercial real estate lessor following the lease-up of Embassy Zenith, carries total consolidated debt of roughly Rs 11,600 crore with negative consolidated net worth. Under the debenture terms, the debt falls due for repayment if Embassy Property ceases to hold at least 51% of Mac Charles or ceases to control the company.
