Order placement enhancements on Kite
Traders,
Order placement speeds have gone up significantly after the recent update. Along with it, we have introduced a couple of new features on the Kite web, and will soon be available on Kite mobile 3.0 slated to go live in the next few days.
Instant order status notifications
On Kite, whenever you place orders, you will now see realtime order placement notifications with up-to-date status messages, no matter which screen of the platform you are on. This means that you would not need to go back to the orderbook to check every time you place an order if the order is completed or rejected. Also on clicking the notification, you will be redirected to the orderbook if you do want to check it in any case.
Better order rejection messages
Another legacy that we have just let go of, along with the 2FA Q&A, is the cryptic order rejection messages that you would see earlier. These are now replaced by concise, easily readable messages. For example, earlier if you would have placed a market order for stock option contracts which are not allowed (only LIMIT orders allowed due to illiquidity), you would have seen the below rejection message:
RMS: Blocked for OPTSTK MKT nse_for broker- ZERODHA Remarks: Option Stock market orders are not allowed block type: ALL
Now you will see this:
Market orders are blocked for stock options due to illiquidity. Try a LIMIT order.

Request you to add instant order placement option
Hey Mani, orders are placed instantly itself. If you want the order to be executed quickly, then you can use market order, but do be aware of slippage, especially in stocks that have less liquidity as market order will execute at the best available price. Alternatively, you can use limit order like a market order, this will only execute at a price specified or a better price, you can learn more on this here.
Position window
Position status shows the profits/loss made in a closed trade also with the profit/loss not yet booked in a on going trade.
Unable to find the profit/loss seperately on trades not closed.
Better if the trades not closed are shown seperately.
What is milli second order? I could not find this any where on kite or even in you tube demos…
It’s the time taken by Kite to process your order and send it to the exchange.
Order color (font color) for different instruments should vary. Then tracing orders becomes easy and to work with.

Can I remove the positions in kite mobile after the trade (buy and sell) is over? If not why? It is causing so much confusion,it is averaging the price and showing total P/L which is not needed, I need only price at which I entered for the present trade and p&l of the present trade only,what should I do for that?
If you guys could develop the, on screen drag and drop interface ( like one of your competitors ) it’d be great.
On chart. And market entry in bracket order. Also… Bracket order for options without leverage. Like a BO-O. Bracket order- Options.
If you want to enter a BO position at market, place a limit entry just above the current market price and it’ll execute like a market price, but will also protect you from any large impact costs. Market orders will execute at any available bid/offer and so may end up creating large impact costs.
As for BO for options, liquidity is always an issue, so BO would be tricky. The BO exit is always a market exit, and market orders aren’t allowed on stock options, again for liquidity concerns.
This is in the works.
Provide a option to right click on candle/chart and buy/sell/exit.
If trade is taken, PNL to be shown on the chart next to the name of the stock.
We’re working on enabling order placement from the charts. P&L may not happen any time soon.
Hi , is it possible to make market depth , positions and open orders tab compact to fit into the same screen width in kite web page while in pop out chart mode , it is uneasy to scroll down to see open orders tab to modify without seeing chart. All times cant trade with fixed entry ,exit levels , sometimes have to see charts and bid asks for entry exit according to momentum , so please work on this , also is it possible to place quick buy sell order in charts itself like in pi , if these changed i will change to kite for my trades , many aspects are better than pi in kite web ,Thanks.

Also we should be able to re-order from an already executed order, with the volume or price changes as required. The idea is, rather than starting from a blank page, we should be able to edit the order and submit, which is both faster and easier

2. Dark theme

Can we get margins for F&O on Mutual funds.Also if the trades are covered by margin do we still have to pay interest for overnight trades.
Ramesh, we currently don’t offer Margin on pledged Mutual Funds. We plan to do this in the coming months.
There is no interest charged if you bring in 50% of the margin in Cash/Liquidbees and the rest in collateral.
If there is no cash in your account, interest is charged for the amount funded by us. More information here.
Hi, When do you plan to introduce Basket Orders on Kite? I know its available on Sensibull, but would like to see it on Kite though.
Also, a shortcut window to Pending Orders can be placed on Positions Tab, so that we don’t have to move back to Orders and Positions tab more often to update orders.
Prachiti, we offer Basket Orders through Sentinel. We don’t plan to offer Basket orders directly on Kite anytime soon.

Ashok, when you sell from your holdings, it shows up on your positions as short quantity. This is nullified at the end of the day. More information here.

Today, I was placing a normal Buy order by setting limit in Kite web. But the orders were executing with the ongoing market price. Fortunately, I was just executing with least no. of shares to verify my previous issues got resolved or not.. But unexpectedly, this new issue came ..Zerodha Becoming an Unstable platform nowadays.
Hey Mithun, perhaps you were placing a limit buy order above the current market price? If so, there is nothing wrong with the order getting executed at the best bid/offer. That’s how a limit order works. It’s designed to execute at the price you specify or a better price. In order to buy above LTP. place an SL/SLM order.
Never faced such problem and that can’t be there. Otherwise there is big bug in the system… As Matti said, it must be limit order with over and above the CMP… It has happened to me twice due to high volatility and price fluctuations. That’s why bid and ask price details (atleast 2 price actions) are required in order placing screen.

Sir, I strongly feel that now-a-days you are giving more attention to the accessories (e.g., coin, streak, sentinel, smallcase, sensibull etc. etc.) than they deserve. Because of which your main business (i.e., brokerage income from trading and/or investment of/by clients) is getting affected. My observation may sound like an advisory of your business decision though, being a well-wisher as well as a loyal client even after being affected many times due to technical failure of your system I wanted to convey this to you. I guess more than 80% of the income of zerodha is coming from trading by traders hence sound improvement of your system for traders is need of the hour. Even for that if you have to remove some of the accessories you should do that for your benefit only. You have a long way to go and hence please focus more and more on your core business. All the best.

absolutely agree with these points. even i was a very loyal customer of zerodha inspite of so many trader issues faced. but not anymore bidding goodbye now. all these peripheral modules like coin streak etc are big zero and of no value for an active trader like me who cannot get proper risk free platform to trade. anyway wishing zerodha all the best
You can NEVER login on ZERODHA kite web between 9:15 AM to 10:00 am . TRY IT. It keeps on giving error for password. but after 10:00 AM as the pressure reduces it allows to login. By that time all the action is finished and you are left with losses.
ZERODHA’S Call and trade phones never never get connected at time of crisis.
Every Mondays or on the days after HOLIDAYS the ZERODHA Kite WEB platform crashes.
Zerodha CANNOT provide even the basic trading platform which is RISK FREE, BUT INSTEAD KEEPS LOADING ITS PLATFORM WITH USELESS APPS WHICH PERHAPS ONLY A MEAGRE FEW MAY BE USING.

Consistency in stable connectivity is required at any time of the day or any day of the year. Kite app has become margin calculator. People placing orders whether it will reject or not.
I sincerely advise you to do deep research on improving performance of the system. I know you made some progress on this, but thats not enough considering the size of zerodha and volumes from kite terminal. Pi is pretty rough. Lot many use kite mobile app and kite desktop.
Show live price on the screen while exiting the cover orders. This is very much needed.
Please show the margins available for buying equities in intraday.
There should be sorting option in every page, be it watchlist or holding.
Market depth option should be present in holdings view also
Kindly have an app for margin calculation.
In stock holding of mobile app no option is provided to watch market depth. This feature is very essential for talking buy or sell decision of investors.

If you are facing issues with Kite web/app stalling/freezing, I suggest you should better start using “Pi”. Its the most reliable software I have used in term of connectivity and up time. HTML based application like Kite web and app are not suitable for a high volatility trading environment. And it doesn’t matter whichever broker you use, you’ll face issues with all of them. I have personally faced this issue in SASonline, Upstox, Zerodha and Fyres.
However if you use the native window app like Zerodha Pi, its a much better experince.

(1) Good cosmetic changes. On some other normal day, this would have received huge likes. But not after the outage day 2 days before.
Prioritize the following in case of outage.
(a) Ensure you dont have any outages. (unrealistic but try more backups). We are all willing to pay say 30 Rs brokerage to become prime clients, if required. Think about this.
(b) In case of outage, and we are in position, allow only them to place orders to exit their position.
For this create a new order channel- which you will open in case of failure only. I am trying to say build a fire engine lane. This channel cannot be used to create a new position in case of outages.
(c) Try to enhance Auto square off to 3:28. At 3:27 remove user control. And simply exit by 3:29. Your ASO typical time is 2 minutes.
These changes would be like a huge donation. Pop up cosmetics are good. Nice. Cool.

Please send normal text messages (sms) on execution of the orders immediately. It is very much required. Internet is not sure always.
Please provide facility for increasing the thickness of indicator lines. At present the indicator lines are very thin, unless the cursor is placed near to the lines, these are not clearly visible. (Line thickness increases when cursor is placed near to the lines)

I appreciate all the new features. But the most important priority for you should be to improve the reliability of the platform. Recent issues had caused huge losses. You had been a trader for a long time and understand how much efforts one needs to put to earn even 2K. But because of zerodha isssues entire month’s gains have gone. In short, you have caused more loss than the gain due to less brokerage. I hope you work round the clock for next few days to fix the issue and ensure that this never happens again. Please don’t delegate this task.

Please add sms notification after every successful order execution..
Kindly add the feature, where quantity will be calculated automatically by system based on risk management parameters like maximum amount of loss per trade. So, we just need to input entry price, stop loss, target in case of BO & entry price, stop loss in case of CO.
For eg: max loss/trade = Rs. 5,000
buy price = 100
stoploss = 95
Quantity = 5000/100-95 = 1000 (to be rounded off as lower no. in case of fraction)

We need a feature very badly in Kite…..
Suppose I have pledged liquidbees with zerodha and also given shares as collateral to zerodha…..and having cash balance in my account as well.
On Monday 1 write 10 lots of nifty options ( it uses my liquidbees , cash and collateral component)….. and say on Tuesday then i purchase RIL shares ( for delivery) ….on Wednesday i buyback 3 lot of nifty options.
on Thursday i want to buy say yes bank shares for delivery …then it is diffcuilt to find out the cash in hand to buy these yes bank shares ( i dont want to use margin for buying yes bank since intrest would be levied on it).
So actually we should have a clear picture every morning saying that X amt of Liquidbees , Y amount of collateral and Z amount of Collateral is available for trade today.
This would prevent traders from doing manual calculations every morning.

My friend has an UPSTOX account and their platform stalled. Converting his position to a huge loss. Plus they auto square off at 3:15 pm. Already I hate the ASO at 3:20 at Zerodha. Also in Zerodha if you transfer funds margin is immediately available for trading. In upstox my friend reported at least one hour delay.

First try to improve your working and connectivity issue, yesterday was F&O expiry and you were not allowing to place any orders due to your server issues and my profit was converted in to loss, now a days your service and server issue is happening almost once a week on the critical day which is turning profit in to loss, this is very serious matter as no body is working with you for loosing the money but in fact earning in the market. Try to improve your technology and make sure that it must not stop on the critical days of the market and during the critical hours. Due to yesterday incident and also before 2-3 days incident where not allowed to place the orders i have lost the money which was actually in profit at that point of time when i was trying to trade, very disappointed.
During extraordinary circumstances even orders didn’t go through from broker’s terminals which are directly connected to the exchanges via VSAT and fastest network. In such circumstances, almost all trading terminals experience lag and orders may not go through. But, what happening in Zerodha is little bit more of the problems. Hope you people are working on it and find a fix soon. After all Zerodha is evolving and during the process there may be bottlenecks and road blocks. Being No 1 in trade volume and almost more than 8% of NSE trades and volumes are handeled by Zerodha, we understand the situation. If problems persists for long, people may desert Zerodha whatever may be the advantage it provides. Traders are for trading and there is no meaning or place in zerodha if they can’t place orders during critical times. There are numerous suggestions in the feed back, kindly consider them and do the needful.
better to work on outage in your systems also.. too frequent outages.. never saw such a lousy service where you are not able to login in system, unable to place orders and keep watching like a dumb your existing positions going in a loss..

Sometimes my fund is not showing properly and it also show less amount like my fund is 6600 and it show 4400 sometimes . why is it happen ?

me too. After some time it shows the correct amount. But, i haven’t checked whether any order was rejected owing to display of incorrect (less amnt) fund. But, strangely i noticed whenever there is insufficient fund the order gets placed and then rejected. Either make appropriate arrangements to display fund position in the order window or validate amount in the realtime as we enter the qty and price & block order. You ask all the way submit, confirm and displaying ” order placed” etc.. and then rejected msg only in executed tab.. not good.

ORDER TYPE MKT..LIMIT … ALL FUNCTION PRE DEFINE NOT REQUIRED AGAIN AGAIN DURING THE MKT ….AND THIS FUNCTION ALSO WILL HELP TO SAVE MONEY AND TIME THANKS

Dear Sir, This actually blocks the screen which actually needs to take less screen space. If you have more than 1 order which is executed then the screen is totally blocked.

On every market-critical day, Zerodha fails, without fail. Seeing this since years. Users expect to take profit but Zerodha won’t let them.
Exactly on the stock result days or any important events .The product instrument Bracket order and Cover order has been blocked by zerodha.This reduces the chances of making profit.
Well, that (BO / CO) is understandable, because, of expected high volatality, But what Sunil mentions is different. That on market critical days, when orders get extremely high, that system doesnt function properly.
I concur with Mr Sunil. Even during ordinary day, I find it difficult some times to initiate order/check positions. It says gateway timed out. Please keep your words and what was said in the beginning of the Kite introduction “…Bandwidth consumption of less than 0.5 Kbps for a full marketwatch, extensive charting with over 100 indicators and 6 chart types, advanced order types like Brackets and cover, millisecond order placements, and more…”. We expect anything more but, getting our orders through without problems.

Please provide re-positioning property for “Technical/Fundamental” screens. They block script and price details. Further, it would be fine if you could display 52w H/L and CMP in the screen. These info will be very helpful in evaluating the values of oscillators and MAs provided.
