Zerodha’s referral program is back

June 10, 2026

A lot of our customers came to us the same way: someone they trusted told them to. We’ve never run a newspaper or TV ad, and we never plan to. A typical broker spends 10 to 15% of its revenue on marketing. We’d rather hand that money to the people who actually do the convincing.

That belief is as old as Zerodha; we were the first broker in India to share a slice of our brokerage with the clients who referred others, and we ran it that way right from day one in 2010. In fact, the first version of our website had only two utilities: the brokerage calculator, and a tool to guesstimate referral benefits. And just for nostalgia, here’s what it looked like:

At its peak, 50% of every new account at Zerodha came from someone simply telling a friend. Here’s the part we’re quietly proud of: even after we stopped sharing brokerage because of a regulatory mandate, with no monetary incentive of any kind on the table, nearly 30% of new accounts still come in the same way. People use Zerodha, like what they see, and refer their friends and family. The regulations have since caught up with what our clients were already doing, so we’re bringing the brokerage sharing programme back.

From June 1, once your referral opens an account and starts trading, you earn 10% of the brokerage they generate, plus 300 reward points for every successful referral.

How it works

For every account opened through your referral from June 1, you earn 10% of the brokerage paid. You will also continue to get 300 reward points for each successful referral. You can redeem these in Console for subscriptions to products like Tijori, MProfit, and Quicko, or put them towards your Account Maintenance Charge (AMC).

You can withdraw the referral brokerage share from Console once you accrue ₹500 from August 1, 2026.

One thing to note: only referrals made from June 1, 2026, are eligible for the brokerage share. Accounts referred under the older program won’t carry over.

How to refer someone

On the Kite app:

  1. Tap on your user ID.
  2. Scroll down and tap on Invite friends.
  3. Tap on Share.

You can also generate an affiliate link on zerodha.com/refer to share with your friends and family. When someone opens an account via your link, we automatically capture the referral.

Everything after that is trackable on the referrals page on Console: your referred accounts, your earnings, your reward points, and your payouts, all in one place.

A good time to tell a friend

There’s never been an easier time to bring someone on board. From June 1, anyone opening a fresh account won’t pay AMC for their first year. And if they’re moving holdings over from another broker, we’ll refund their transfer charges up to ₹500. Fewer reasons to hesitate for them, which means your referral is far more likely to go through.

So if there’s someone you’ve been meaning to nudge towards investing the right way, now’s the moment.

Happy referring.

Why don’t you consider the older referrals that i made few years back? Shall I ask my friends to close the old accounts and open a new one?

    • Shrenik Giriya says:

When the older referral given are not considered, what is the surety that the new referral given would continue earning brokerage .if
Zerodha can consider the older referral, then only new referral should be given.

  4. Mahesh Devani says:

Old referral accounts not being considered for 10% brokerage earning is the biggest scame.

Zerodha should consider paying 10% brokerage earning for all the old referrals we have made.

What if I refer my friend and June month first first week to open an account..
I get the 10 percentage brokerage sharing or only the 300 rupees to my account

  8. Nice good its back but 10% is too less brokrage is usually under 100 and 10% is just 10₹ that’s not fair, instead give one time rewards higher that 250rs

  9. Shakir shaikh says:

If you are really serious about this referral program then you need to consider the old referral as well.

Hi Friends Zerodha is bound to follow SEBI’s rules .. if SEBI ordered to to stop referral programme every broker stopped referral.. I think now SEBI again permitted to start it then I think all brokers again start referral program as per old rules.

    • Jyothi says:

SBI Didn’t say, don’t consider older refferal. It’s totaly wrong to take benefits when you face competition nedd of company growth. New types of scam.

      • Raja Muthiyalian says:

I think sbhi ko apna account yha switch kr lena chahiye

  31. ARC says:

What’s the duration for payment of these referrals? 1 year or continuous as long as the referral account is doing any sort of transactions? Do these transactions include MF transactions on Coin app also?

  32. S Shetty says:

Already referred but not received any brokerage misleading each and every time same reference policy published earlier also at that I referred people.. just you are credited some points instead of money as per referral policy
I think you are misleading people by wrong communication

  33. Bk Pradeep says:

Good decision – will try to do earnestly

  34. Saurabh Dubey says:

We trusted your platform and brought in multiple referrals, only for you to abruptly stop the brokerage-sharing program without justification. Now that you are losing market share to competitors, you are attempting to restart the program. Tell us why old referrals won’t be considered in this program?? If old program was blocked by SEBI what has changed now??

  35. Raj says:

very bad decision by zerodha, you need to consider old referral as valid, otherwise no one now referral, also if old account is closed by referral and again i referral then can u give us this benefits ? or this is your marketing strategy as all users said.

  36. Sandip says:

    old referal must be include
    or lost trust

  37. Rajeev says:

Its for lifetime, till u earn with that account brokerage or will cut mine later on?

  38. Paarth Batra says:

    Hi Team,

It’s really disappointing that you are start this again , I guess probably the regulatory is now allowing you to give incentives back to referral.

But what about our previous referrals?

This is something really which boke my trust in Zerodha.

Btw at the same time when you said regulatory has asked you to not to give referrals, the incentives back, many brokerage firms were still giving the referral income.

Either don’t start this referral income now or if you start give us our referral for all our older referrals including for the years you didn’t give us that money.

If someone earns good from Stock Market, traders has to bear a lot of tax
If he make losses, he doesn’t get anything
Now, if someone was earning from referrals after a lot of effort you took it back giving excuses that there is a regulatory.

I didn’t expect this from Zerodha that now again you will start it and forget all old referrals .

You guys enabled whole india to look at trading from different angle. Dont disappoint us please

  39. RAGHAV GHAI says:

Team Zerodha this is not a good move by you for not considering the old referrals bring by us. the brokerage share for both old and new referrals should also be given to us.
As you mentioned only referrals made from June 1, 2026, are eligible for the brokerage share. Accounts referred under the older program won’t carry over.
Which means we bring more client to you and after a year you can simply say its SEBI Guidance not to share brokerage to individual investors, and you say sorry sir we won’t be able to pay the brokerage from immediate effect.

  40. Pawan Kumar Yadav says:

If I add 500 clients, will they stay with me for a lifetime, or is there a possibility that the app’s scheme/policy could change in the future?

    • Ram says:

They promised lifetime last time also and removed it saying regulations, cheated its customers.

      • Jyothi says:

Make community of seprate group who were attached many people’s. And puting a pettion in court is good option now

  41. Siva Kumar says:

I do not see this kind of behaviour with zerodha. Old customers who referred should also be considered. As we think zerodha is a go to and trusted and referred many customers why do zerodha betray old customers. I request to consider these and provide the benifits to old customers as well

  42. Amit Kumar says:

Lekin mera ek sawal hai. Agar purane referral program ke customers brokerage share ke liye eligible nahi hain, to purane customers naye logon ko refer hi kyun karein?

Hum company ke liye naye customers laate hain. Kal ko agar is naye program ko bhi band karke koi aur program la diya gaya, to aaj jo referrals hum kar rahe hain kya woh bhi future mein eligible nahi rahenge?

Aisa lagta hai ki customer company ko grow karne mein help kare aur baad mein program change hone par uski mehnat ki value hi na rahe. Is baare mein aapka kya kehna hai….?

    • Naresh Purohit says:

Ye number one par nahi rahe ab
Jabse inhone ye program band Kiya hai inked customer kahi or shift ho gaye hai
Mene b more than 100 customer refer kiye the ab un sab ka brokerage to Mil nahi ab inko name customer chahiye

  43. Chandrakanta Kabra says:

You have lost the trust already. Many are there who referred and gathered clients and you suddenly stopped referral programme. You will stop this also in very short time. No sense in bringing new clients to you.

  44. Preeti says:

I had referred my husband and he was (still is) doing a lot of trades.
Now, can I ask him to close his account (before that transfer all his portfolio to another groww/dhan account ) and then create a new zerodha account using another phone number, under my reference? (PAN number will remain same for him)
I will continue to get my referral amount then.
    Will this work?

  45. Amit Kumar says:

If referrals made under the previous program are not eligible for the brokerage share, what incentive do existing customers have to refer new users in the future? From a customer’s perspective, we spend time and effort bringing new clients to your platform, helping grow your customer base.
My concern is that if customers refer people under one program and then that program is later discontinued and replaced with a new one, those referrals lose their benefits. If this happens repeatedly, customers may feel that their contribution is not being recognized fairly.
Could you please explain how the company plans to reward and protect the value created by long-term customers and their referrals when referral programs change?

  46. Gaurang Pathak says:

Old Scheme with New Name but no previous benefits

  47. Thakkar Samir Rameshchandra says:

I was beneficiery in older refferel program. You suddenly stopped benefits mentioning that it is considered violation of SEBI rules and regulations.

So, now does SEBI allows such refferal program or your earlier excuse was fake?

What about the hard work done by beneficiaries of older refferal program that you stopped suddenly?

  48. Sewa Devi says:

I was a marketing partner and authorised person with them ZMPRNW with over 2500 refferals and was generating close to 20 lakh monthly brokerage. They first made me surrender the AP registration saying its not required to earn brokerage and then after few months stopped the payouts. Never in my life I would recommend anyone to trust Zerodha again. My years of hard work was ruined for no reason.

  49. Avinash says:

What about the 200+ clients I referred earlier? You used our efforts to grow Zerodha and then dumped the referral benefits when it suited you. Now you’re bringing it back only for new referrals and expecting us to trust you again?

This is a pathetic decision. Just read the comments—people are angry for a reason. If old referred clients are excluded, this referral program is nothing more than a gimmick.

  50. Nav says:

They are in loss when they stop referral programs. When they are on top they never looked at back n aggressively moved, even they didn’t realise where the revenue generates. Anyway no use of it.. don’t entertain this

  51. Amit says:

This is cheating. You should also start giving for old referral as well. If not then instead of referring we asked all old referral to close demat with zerodha. Change your policy. Not tolerable at all.

  52. Ajay Ambaliya says:

Zerodha ke customer kam hone lage isliye vapas chalu kiya he hamne pahle customer laye the uska kya old referal ko include karo tabhi koi referal karega zerodha wale ka revenue kam ho gaya isliye vapas chalu kiya he

  53. Ashok Kumar Awasthi says:

I would like to open three minor accounts under gargion ship of their mother। what can I do।

  54. Sanghapal Bodhi says:

I would like to express my concern regarding the decision to restrict referral benefits only to accounts eligible after 1 June.
Zerodha has always built its reputation on trust and long-term relationships with its customers. Many loyal users, including myself, have actively promoted Zerodha to friends, family members, and colleagues over the years because we genuinely believed in the platform and its values.
By making the referral benefits applicable only from 1 June onward, existing customers who have already contributed significantly to Zerodha’s growth through referrals may feel overlooked. Early supporters and long-term clients helped build the strong customer base that Zerodha enjoys today, and excluding them from the revised referral structure creates a sense of unfairness.
I have personally referred several friends to Zerodha, and it is disappointing to see that long-standing referral contributors are not receiving the same opportunity as newer participants. A more inclusive approach, such as extending brokerage-sharing benefits to existing referral accounts or introducing a grandfathering provision, would demonstrate Zerodha’s commitment to rewarding loyalty and maintaining customer trust.
I respectfully request the management to reconsider this policy and allow existing referral accounts to receive the brokerage percentage benefits as well. Such a decision would be appreciated by many loyal customers who have supported Zerodha’s growth from the beginning.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
    Sincerely,
    Sanghapal Bodhi

  55. Venkateshwarlu Konduru says:

    Hi there,

I referred my wife to join in Zerodha, she joined zerodha but I never received referral money.

  56. Nilesh Shettigar says:

worst scheme, if settle the old referals and then start this new scheme or else be ready to loose your loyal customer base. See the results in next quarterly earnings you will understand

  57. Bau says:

    Thanks your support for me

  58. Adarsh Gupta says:

    Dear Team,

I am writing to express my disappointment regarding the status of my past referral earnings. I have [Number] successful referrals in my list, completed during the period when the ”Refer and Earn” program was fully active.

While I understand the SEBI/NSE notifications from August 2024 regarding the requirement for Authorized Person (AP) registration, those regulations were meant to govern ongoing and future solicitations. My referrals were completed under the terms and conditions active at that time.

It is disheartening to see that while the platform explores options to resume or modify referral benefits for new users, the ”past referrals”—which contributed to your current user base—are being ignored. If the platform does not honor the benefits accrued from my previous efforts, I find no incentive to recommend your services further.

    I request you to:

Clarify the status of earnings for referrals successfully onboarding prior to the August 2024 and after August 2024 circular.

Provide a timeline for the disbursement of these ”accrued” benefits.

Looking forward to a fair resolution.

  59. Umesh says:

What about those who you have dumped ? Had more than 400 clients generating lakhs of brokerage . You simply dumped .

  60. Puja says:

Please clear my pending old brokerage first. After that, I will happily refer my friends and family to Zerodha. Otherwise, I will neither continue trading nor recommend Zerodha to anyone. Thank you.

  61. Bau says:

    Thanks

  62. om says:

    old referal must be include

  63. Akash Rastapur says:

10% on all segments? Or just F&O?

  64. SAURAV GHOSH says:

Just for clarity. If I move my holdings from other broker to my already existing zerodha ac will you refund the transfer charges or is it for new accounts only?

  65. Bablu says:

How can we redeem the points

    • Shubham says:

Hi Bablu, you can redeem these in Console for subscriptions to products like Tijori, MProfit, and Quicko, or put them towards your Account Maintenance Charge (AMC): https://support.zerodha.com/category/console/profile/account/articles/how-do-i-refer-zerodha-to-my-friends-or-family

  67. Chandra Sekar G says:

Dear friends, pls don’t refer this platform… They will.make the rules as per there wish. We referred before and they stopped suddenly and they will change there rules after they got some customer… Now they are not getting enough customers so they started this drama again….

  68. Kethan says:

    Sir,
Your trading plotform is very good, but for any issues no one responds,.

I had opened account for trading equity and commodity. But i am not getting commodities
While opening account Rs.200+300=Rs.500/- collected(blocked) for both equities and commodities, now when i asks your people saying many reason and asking to send ITR and bank balance why it is and no proper guidance is getting from your end.
Main issue is with Zerodha is that once account opens then no one cares for any doubts clarification
My holdings are blocked and is unable to sell, it is showing account inactivated. Asked to activate, How to get back my holdings

    • Shubham says:

Hi Kethan, very sorry to hear this. Checking this. Will have someone from the team reach out at the earliest.

  69. Kuldeep Patil says:

You must include previous refferal also give brokerage with retrospective effect that could increase our faith and encourage to other to join zerodha…

  70. Dattatray says:

This is cheating with old customers who have referred people.
Now you don’t want to pay for it. You want new refferal so after few time you will stop paying for refferal with some new excuses.
You are Loosing trust is what I say 💔

    • Amit Joshi says:

If you need your clients, reconnect with your old partners. Things that partners can do that referrals cannot do. Partners will explain each line systematically.

  71. ACHIN MITTAL says:

I wont recommend to anyone, if you dont care for past referrals

  72. Rahul says:

It’s not enough only to include old customers referals in this commission sharing program, but you are required to include and make payment of all commissions earned by old customers since the date programme was closed till current date. Then only you will get back your lost trust and regain your customers loyalty.

  73. Akash says:

Not expected from a company which put it’s entire efforts towards creating and maintaining an image of a Fair and ethical company.
This initiative is a betrayal to your older customers who kept supporting you even when you could not afford to pay them the shared brokerage only to realize that they won’t be acknowledged and the company that makes a narrative of emotional bonding with their customers would only take purely business decisions when it will come to its own.

It’s fine do what suits you but please stop telling the world about your fair policies and lot of other blah! blah!

  74. sarathy says:

How we get money by only referring

  75. Sandesh Prabhu says:

What about the referrals made during earlier old referral program will those restart acquiring brokerage sharing as well ?

  76. Anirudh Jaiswal says:

Zerodha Worst policy, I have referred already 30+ clients before.

  77. Yogesh Kushwaha says:

Is it compulsory to 10 trade per day by the referral Friend. Tel us

  78. Mayur Nakrani says:

How about past referals before June 1st

  79. Sanjay R says:

No point in bringing this if your are not allowing the previous referrals. It feels like people who referred before June 1 are jokers including me. A cunning tactic to bring more users by referring from now on.

  80. NC Rana says:

I think Zerodha plateform is not good enough for scalping, but very good enough for long term and swing trading.

  81. BUSHRA PRAVEEN says:

    Dear Zerodha Team,
Thank you for starting this again!
But what about the ones we have already refered in your earlier Referal Program?

  82. Arvind Kumar says:

old accounts bhi referral account ban sakta hai kya

  83. Priyanka aggarwal says:

ON WHAT GUARANTEE WE NEED TO REFER ? YOU CAN STOP SHARING BROKERAGE AGAIN IN FUTURE – TRUST IS BROKEN.

PAY BACK THE PENDING BROKERAGE TILL DATE – GAIN BACK YOUR TRUST

  84. Vibhor says:

The very basic feature of applying/trailing SL/TP both at the same time is not available for options trade, you have to fill the order in window or click + button, so many clicks….
which is available in most of the brokers now, like FYERS, Lemonn etc.

  85. Shahi says:

You must include the old referrals. You can’t simply reset as per your whims. If we now refer to zerodha and a year later again you stop this and reset (like you’re doing now), you’ll get the customers but we’ll lose the lifetime brokerage we would’ve earned had we referred them to Dhan or some other broker.

And please be consistent. If you stop others’ income, give it serious thought. Ping pong with such decisions is not a joke. This is serious business, not a fun podcast.

    • Sparsh says:

I agree to this 100%. Earlier as well zerodha had done this. And now again.
Can’t be referring people time and again, and then wait for them to discontinue their referral program, to again continue after sometime.

  86. Prashant panwar says:

Me already 3 person ko refer kr chuka hu but aapne mujhe kabhi brokrage hi diya hai or na hi koi points mile hai why? Aapko is bare me sochna chahiye

  87. Raj Kumar Hangotra says:

It is too bad a policy for existing members. Why dont you refund 50% brokerage to existing members. You are promoting your marketing at the extra cost paid by existing members who do many trades each day. This is against law of natural justice. Zerodha already has very high brokeratges for intraday players. I request you to take suggestions from SEBI in this regard.

    • Raj Kumar Hangotra says:

isnt it like you are pushing your program in such a way that one who follows would look forward for his referred member to go for number of intraday trades each day to earn more as you yourself are highlighting in illustrated program with 50, 100 of 200 trades a day. This is too much of cheating in my view and not fair for a broking entity like Zerodha which has a good overall repute otherwise. Just think over again.

  88. Ashish Chauhan says:

When previous referral commission were terminated. Now why back.

  89. Sachin Shete says:

Then the OLD Customers who referred 100’s of friends and families are bunch of idiots NOW – ON WHAT GUARANTEE WE NEED TO REFER ?

  90. Vijay Kumar Ray says:

At least give 5% to old referral program also. That will be good otherwise people will open new account in relatives name and close personal account for trading .

  91. Sachin Shete says:

Then the OLD Customers who referred 100’s of friends and families are bunch of idiots NOW – ON WHAT GUARANTEE WE NEED TO REFER ? YOU CAN STOP SHARING BROKERAGE AGAIN IN FUTURE – HENCE NO TRUST ON ZERODHA – TRUST IS BROKEN LONG BACK.

PAY BACK THE PENDING BROKERAGE TILL DATE – GAIN BACK YOUR TRUST – AS SIMPLE AS THAT – ETHICS IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN MONEY IN ANY BUSINESS

  92. Atul Tiwari says:

Why are you not giving your old refferd customer?

  93. K SANTHOSH says:

    sub broker options available

  94. Aditi Agrawal says:

Good initiative. Hope you start giving dealer terminals to Graduates with NISM certified persons soon. With job layoff this will help.

  95. This is highly unprofessional. Even if you want new customers, you are betraying the old and trusted ones. Remeber, we brought th most loyal zerodha base. With this gimmick, I am sending my refferal now other brokers.
I hate to say this but you lost your loyal customers.

  96. dev says:

old refer wale acount ka kya hoga jo band kar diye the .? un refer ko bhi again active kiya jaye.

  97. Deepak says:

What about the old referrals which i did previous, you stopped them without the proper information. And we do not know when you will stop this also.
If you provide brokerage commission for previous referrals also then people will believe you. otherwise they will think its no use. I can also start again referring more friends.

    Thanks

  98. MONTU VERMA says:

WHY YOU NOT SHARING THE BROKERAGE OF OLD CLIENTS I MADE .. AGAIN IF I REFER TO SOMEONE AND THEN AGAIN ZERODHA WILL CLOSE THE PROGRAM THEN WHAT ? … OTHER BROKERS GIVING CONTINUESLY SHARING .. TRUST ONLY MADE ONCE YOU RESHARE THE OLD CLIENTS BROKARGE ALSO ..

    • Nav says:

They are in loss when they stop referral programs. When they are on top they never looked at back n aggressively moved, even they didn’t realise where the revenue generates. Anyway no use of it.. don’t entertain this

  99. Kaushal Mehta says:

    This is disappointing.
My all family accounts are with zerodha referred by me. You stop program earlier citing regulatory problems and now again starting. not sure what norms have changed suddenly.
You should re-consider this by not allowing the old referral.

  100. Rahul Bhatt says:

    Hi Team,

If I request someone to open a secondary Demat account in his name will that be considered under referral ?

  101. SUSHEN A R A says:

I DONT THINK ZERODHA HAS THAT

  102. Prashant Prabhu says:

    Dear Zerodha Team,
Thank you for starting this again!
But what about the ones we have already refered in your earlier Referal Program?

Will those referals also be eligible? Logically yes, I guess!!
    Please let us know.

    Regards,

    Prashant

    • Inderjeet says:

right i have same question, and i have sifted atleast 10 people from other brokers to Zerodha, what about our past referals which you people have stopped

    • Sahil says:

      They already mentioned

One thing to note: only referrals made from June 1, 2026, are eligible for the brokerage share. Accounts referred under the older program won’t carry over.

  103. Avinash says:

what about the friends we referred earlier before this program was relaunched?will I get the referral benefits now from their trades brokerages?

  104. sunita Devi says:

When business is down again come up with referral and partner program and get the customer first then after six month or 1-3 year then closed the scheme this is the old philosophy of Zerodha.

Why you people closed your old partner and referral scheme.

  105. Tushar says:

Long back I have already shared many people…
and you stop sharing brokerage suddently.
you policies keep changing too frequently..

you are not good at sharing brokerage.

  106. Tushar says:

    Hi Zerodha Team,

I was Partner of Zerodha Code named Partner code – ZMPLZW and was having 400 accounts mapped. Suddenly, the brokerage sharing was stopped. Will my previous accounts be mapped again. I spent many hours and hard work and gathered 400 accounts but suddenly all stopped by Zerodha. Please suggest.

    Thanks,
    Tushar

  107. Aditya Shah says:

Wasn’t this banned by SEBI? Isn’t what why you stopped the referral program a while ago?

  108. VK says:

For what period do you earn the commission?

  109. Keerthan says:

PATHETIC! You always pull the rug on folks who always trusted you. You only do this drama when there is competition

  110. Shubham Gujarathi says:

What about the commission from referrals which were registered under the old referral program?
