Introducing position grouping on Kite app
When you have just one or two trades, the positions page is easy to read. But once you have trades across different stocks, indices, and expiries, it becomes harder to make sense of everything in one view.
Instead of reading everything as one long list, you can now group your positions on the Kite app. This feature was earlier available only on Kite web and helps you view related positions together and track your P&L more clearly.
By default, all positions still appear in a single list with a combined P&L at the top. But now, you’ll also see a new “Group” option on the positions page.
Underlying
Selecting “Underlying” groups all positions of the same instrument together. For example, if you trade Nifty and Sensex F&O contracts across multiple expiries, each underlying will appear under its own group with a combined P&L beside it.

Underlying and Expiry
If you want a more detailed view, choose “Underlying and Expiry.” This groups positions by both instrument and expiry date, which is helpful when trading multiple expiries of the same stock or index.
Additionally, you can collapse or expand groups to focus only on the positions that matter.

We’ve also improved multi-selection. Earlier, long-pressing a position opened a separate screen. Now, you can select positions directly on the main page while your P&L continues updating in real time, making it easier to manage and exit multiple positions without losing context.
You can also exit positions group-wise. Just long-press a group name and tap on exit to exit all positions in that group at once.

Your grouping preference stays saved unless you log out, after which it resets to the default view. Filters, however, reset automatically at the end of each trading day.
Multi-selection improvement is also available for Orderbook, GTT, and Alerts, allowing you to quickly cancel multiple open orders or delete GTTs and Alerts.
If you have any feedback, do let us know in the comments.

I am completely new in trading. I am a swing trader, still not understanding this new settings, if you please give with example.
Kindly consider this a feature request. Also, I have read couple of earlier comments, this has been requested in various forms.
For holding screen / page, kindly consider custom grouping (or tags) so that various slice and dice of the data is available. e.g. if I wanted to group my long term and short term investment (one perspective) or large cap / mid cap / short cap (other perspective) or based on equity category (e.g. finance, manufacturing, retail etc) (one other perspective, user should be able to do that and see the PnL and other things based on these categories
This app super working
Bring US stocks investing
Implement trailing SL feature.
Pls arrange for bengali language to better understand
there is a collapse all/expand all button in the app. introduce same in kite web also.
Hi Piyush, will bounce this off our team. Thanks for the feedback.
Hi
Aap apni kite app mein 2 holding window banaiye taki chhote traders do holdings window mein ek mein apni long term investment Rakh saken aur dusre mein Apne swing trade ko adjust karle kabhi bhi kar saken taki hamen Swing trade karne ke liye ya investment karne ke liye dusri app per Na Jana pade iska Koi agar solution ho to vah bhi bataen.
Hi Vickey, you can use the secondary demat account feature to separate your long-term investments from short-term or swing trades. This allows you to manage them independently without mixing both strategies. https://zerodha.com/z-connect/featured/manage-your-investments-better-with-secondary-demat-account
This is very cumbersome. Adding this grouping feature directly to the Holdings view would be fantastic.
I’ve spoken to many Kite users, and they all share the same opinion.
Let me decide my groups. I may take position in Nifty and Hedge by Bank Nifty. Calendar spread a more common example. So let me select instruments in my position and name a group.
Thank you for your ever improving efforts.
Hi, will bounce this off our team. Thanks for the feedback.
Please add some feature in chart so indices can be traded from the chart and sl can be moved like in the stocks . lines can be moved. do it asap.
Many others have already said it. We badly need the grouping in Holdings. And let it be manual please. The naming also can be manual. And it should continue till user removes groupings. Don’t remove it if someone logs out or is inactive for sometime. Each group should show its own total invested, current value, profit/loss amount and percentage etc.
Hi Shakti, we’ve noted your feedback and will look into this. For now, you can use the tagging feature on Console to group and sort holdings according to your preferences. More on tags here: https://support.zerodha.com/category/console/reports/taxation/articles/view-ltcg-and-stcg-holdings
Can you please arrange the same for holding share which can be categorised long term, short term and swing trade. Thanks
Please implement this
Hi Sapna, we already highlight long-term holdings on Console for positions held for over one year. You can also filter your holdings based on long-term and short-term directly here:
https://console.zerodha.com/portfolio/holdings
If you’d like to separate long-term investments from short-term or swing trades, you can use the secondary demat account feature. You can learn more about it here:
https://zerodha.com/z-connect/featured/manage-your-investments-better-with-secondary-demat-account
Additionally, you can organize your holdings using tags and sort them based on your preferences. More details here:
https://support.zerodha.com/category/trading-and-markets/kite-features/tags/articles/add-tags-on-console
If possible the grouping is according to the strategy, the investor can name the strategy in his account.
Example – calendar spread, long call, short call, batman, iron butterfly etc.
It will be very easy to see the profit and loss of this strategy or it will be easy to exit the strategy.
Hi Sanjay, will bounce this off our team. Thanks for the feedback.
Hi support,
This seems the same operation I was expecting with the Holdings.
I have top priorities to not touch the Equity stocks which I take om for longer suratios and big goals. Also, some positional and swing trades. Now, separating it to the kite seems a difficult task, can you please make these same arrangements for Holdings section as well.
Thanks
Mirza

We require the ability to create custom groupings within our holdings, which would allow us to categorize them appropriately. For instance, we could group holdings designated for long-term investment, short-term investment, or those held through platforms like Smallcase.

I want to know about giving
good profit shares
yes .. i have requested this earlier also.. we have our own spread/ hedged positions with different scrips, which will make better meaning if grouped together; and the daily position viewable at a glance .. instead of seeing them grouped in their own months/ expiries/ exchange and then calculating the net position.. thank you.
Please send me this YouTube video in Hindi. I will explain it to you in detail.
Hi Ravinder, you can watch this in Hindi here: https://youtu.be/lVxUi5iT4ds

I want to be able to group my holdings and separately track stats for a group of holdings. I think Groww already provides this feature

I wanted to request an expiry-wise filter, so we can monitor the desired position only if we have multiple expiry positions in the same underlying.
Expiry wise filter is much desired feature. On the expiry day, sometimes it is important to focus only on positions expiring. This also ensures that no positions are left out for square off.
Hi, your feedback has been noted. We will check into the possibilities.
Hi Gourav, your feedback has been noted. We will check into the possibilities.
This is still not useful, I had requested 3-4 years back to enable user to drag and drop the positions as per user’s choice so user can see the P&L per strategy which user want to see

Good
Pls note that the MTF position sold during morning hours cannot be bought incase if we wanted to square off in intraday. Kindly provide the option. In addition the MIS or CNC position traded in the same day cannot convert into MFT or vice verve during the market. Kindly provide the feasibility for the same.
It is good feature however it is not useful for those who trade strategy like calenders. Please add another option to create group manually for each srrategy.
Hi Sandip, will bounce this off our team. Thanks for the feedback.

Very helpful feature.
Also, add the feature to make customized grouping of positions as well. I mean if someone trades in nifty and hedges that with sensex or any other instrument. Then customer should have the flexibility to create their own position list.
