I would have been a lot more excited if not for the unfortunate incident from this Monday morning, where we had a major OMS (Order management system) update that introduces a number of new features, which failed when the market opened resulting in intermittent downtime. We had been preparing and testing this update over several months. The reason for the success of our business is the constant enhancement of our products, unlike many traditional firms. It is important to be successful to sustain and remain in business with our low-cost pricing model. Of the numerous successful updates and enhancements that we apply routinely, there is always a tiny fraction that unfortunately does not go live as expected.
At our unprecedented scale, even a minor hiccup can escalate to astronomical proportions. Nonetheless, our teams are always working tirelessly to bring you new products and to improve existing ones. I can now feel the pressure CEO’s of other big traditional brokerages/financial firms would have deciding between continuity with no risk, and changes/updates with their heads on the table if something went wrong.
When we first started the business in 2010 and started actively blogging and answering on online forums, there were many who said that this enthusiasm will last only for a few months. It has been 8 years and our outreach has only grown with time. The excitement to build something new that can help investors and traders, sharing as much knowledge as possible, and helping grow the capital market ecosystem in India by partnering and giving access to leverage everything that we have, is now more than ever before.

In latest update in PC version that code is required from mobile phone is not necessary and its not made it easy infect this feature is made login process lengthier and boring, before this feature i was check my account regularly but after this feature i was check my account 2 or 3 time in a week, and recently I’m thinking to switch my demate account to other company and reason is required CODE before login in PC.
Hi Raj, you can enable TOTP for your account. After this App Code will not be required for logging in to Kite web. TOTP apps can be installed on your laptop/desktop too, we’ve explained the process here.

Congrats for this achievement. But it seems you need to focus more on customer support side. It seems Zerodha customer support team is not professional enough. Based on my experiance, I found they are arrogant and not enough helpful.
This ticket [Ticket #20190223720425] is not being resolved for many days. It proves that Zerodha team is either very inefficent or lack in know how. I am saying this based on service experiance I get from other brokerage house.
I like the Zerodha concept but it should not become victim of unprofessional support team or unsatisfied customer.
I hope you look into this and resolve the matter on higher priority.

For the last few hours, I have been trying to call the customer care on all the published numbers in your website, but it is not going through. I do not trade ofter, but have used many platforms; recently a friend of mine asked me to try this. I was not so sure in the beginning as I had lost hope of a trading platform which is user-friendly and does not require a lot of training. But, to my surprise, I was wrong and happily so…

zerodha is great and thats why ive one suggestion for you to capture the market much better,is start paper trading or demotrading so can retain investors can practise and you can take small fees also if you want but thats also ok because its always going to be less than actual loss in market

Pls. increase your server infrastructure too to handle the order requests efficiently so that any consumer would not incur loss due to it. Especially at the peak times, the order requests are put and modified very slowly by the time the consumer has incurred loss. So no use of low brokerages. It covers more in terms of losses.

My humble request to you is to look into you frequentll platform issues, and customer service.
I have faced numerous issues with you platform due to which I have lost MONEY as I wasn’t able to square off, and it is extremely difficult to reach your customer service because of the IVR restrictions and agents being busy. And, even if I get connected (was extremely luck after trying for hrs.) I only get a response that I think it is to do with the connection with the exchange.
Pls. look into the PLATFORM ISSUES such as slowness, getting stuck,unable to load, and more than anything UNABLE TO SQUARE OFF.
Just imagine yourself, you are long and the market is rapidly crashing. You want to get out, and unable to SQUARE OFF

Congrats. We came to know Zerodha got NBFC license and soon you are going to offer loan against shares. Is there any tentative date rolling out new feature. As big brokerage firms offering Loan against shares. As a long term investor it will help us to trade more using this facility.

The sales mangers or personnel often don’t entertain or ignore phone calls without providing the updates of the ongoing process leaving the account opening clients or even the existing clients in a severe fix and a lot of mental tension !

Felt really good witnessing your success. I have been associated with you since 2013 and have seen how wonderfully you have evolved. It would be wonderful if you could bring the global markets to Indian investors, something on the lines of ig.com or plus500 and other such platforms before those step into the Indian markets. Next 10 years would see a rise in disposable income in India along with a search for better yields. That could be an avenue for growth but I’d leave it to your wisdom. I wish you more success but please don’t become something like ICICI or other such brokerages that fleece clients.

Congrats Nitin and the team. I spoke to you before opening an account with Zerodha in 2010 and was convinced about your vision. I have referred many friends and relatives. What a journey since then. Growth of 47 times in 5 years is brilliant and super execution. Could not get a multibagger like this in trading. Beating the likes of HDFC, ICICI and Sharekhan is not an easy task. Good that a discount brokerage team overtook the biggies.
Now you are at the top, how to stay there? Few ideas below.
1. Integrate the Sensibull, Streak, Sentinel etc… services with kite. (like coin)
2. Improve the trading platform (something like the interface of ThinkorSwim or Interactive Brokers both discount brokers)
3. Take care of the downtime issues. (more servers and better bandwidth to them)

But I will also like to comment that Zerodha Server goes down several times which is highly unsatisfactory. Users who are having the position in F&O can lose their entire capital due to this Crisis.
Also, Zerodha Customer Care number is always busy/Not working mode in such a crisis.

Sorry, but I am not happy this heard this news. Zerodha have used people to take this position. You was started the referral program, and I am part of this program for taking benefit of referral commission. But you shut down the referral program and commition when I given15 new customer to zerodha.
You also shut down 60days chanllaged brokarge refund.
You showed only Carrot to the people (Referral commission & 60 days brokerage refund). after increased numbers of your customer zerodha shutdown that programs.

Congratulations for this incredible achievement !!!
I just have 2 suggestions that you hope you will implement:–
1. Far OTM options in Nifty / Banknifty could not be bought as we approach expiry day because of the limit set by NSE on Zerodha (as a trading member). I understand that your big clients are taking away most of the allotment made by NSE. My suggestion is that you allocate some minimum daily quota for every F&O trader for these options (like say, 3 lots). This way smaller traders like me can get benefited, as we need to buy them for hedging my other positions. To be eligible for this quota, you can set some criteria like, the trader should have traded at least 10 lots per week (as an example) on banknifty / nifty options. This way you can filter out those who do not need them so that the quota goes to deserving traders only.
2. In the Renko and Range bar charts in Kite, please make the completed brick and bar permanent. You can offer this as an additional option in Kite, so that those traders like me who need the charts this way can make use of it. Many platforms in the world markets offer it this way. This will help a lot in better analysis of the past charts to arrive at a good strategy.

But I would definitely want to tell you that despite this achievement, zerodha’s connectivity issues are increasing day by day. This is not good for the No. 1 broker
The only way going forward is to keep your services at its best or else competition is just waiting your next door..

Congrats 0dha, although i was unlucky to get my acct activated since 2015, my wife managed to get her acct activated and both of us use that. It’s a user friendly platform just a cakewalk. Even for beginners like us. We had no one to tutor us. Eventually, found the varsity that teaches everything you need to know, tickets to answer your question. What more do we want. Ofcourse the Best one is the low brokerage. after all that’s the catch we are looking for. Unlike other brokers whobtake away 50% of your earnings. So I quit my accounts with other brokers. Thank you Zerodha for being around. Not that I’m a professional trader, but the losses also have tutored r in a way.

Becoming No. 1 is easy …. remaining no. 1 is difficult.
Every now and then, you have logging in issue in Kite. So, user like me still using NEST since the desktop application PI is not in the top 10 of any trading platform in India. You are probably the entire no. 1 brokerage firm in a country in the world which does not have a decent desktop application and forcing customers to your your web based trading platform. And its not that KITE is the best trading platform in the country.
Whenever there is a slight volatility increase you stop almost all types of order. Sometimes you stop just on the perception of increase in volatility.
Calling your customer is a nightmare to say the least. During any volatile session you may find GOD but not your CC rep.
Now since you have already become no.1, try now for retaining the existing customers otherwise there are this numbers game may not be there for long.

I second it.. As trader it’s tough when server goes down and there is no alternative to protect your positions. Please improve your systems and also provide with 2nd alternative which can be very simple just to manage orders if kite gets jammed for whatever reasons.
You has become number one in brokerage and all intitave has taken only for own benefits not for investor or trader and streak etc. Do not work in reality.

Being a derivatives trader, focussing on full time job and trade execution is pretty tough. This feature would be extremely helpful. Please do add it.

Despite of largest broker Zerodha doesn’t have a good dashboard which can have all details top loosers, top gainers, derivative data, any stock suggestions which other brokers used to provide. If you implement this then no one can beat you

Hey Ashok, since sub-broker income is dependent on the brokerage generated, it is a rather large conflict of interest to give out dealer terminals. That’s the reason we don’t do this. Hope you understand. 🙂

Yes zerodha is yet to refund my 500 rupees and best thing is no one cares about it.i hope you concentrate on consumer support now.i was lure into zerodha and even after failing to open an account zerodha is not paying my account opening fees.
I also attempted to open account 3rice and succeeded in 4th attempt but on completion of account opening, I asked them to refund my 900 (300×3). Thankfully they refunded all. Their cuatomer service is awesome. If you call them and they could not help you at that time by any chance; they will call you back to rectify that. I dont know how thay have motivated their staff workers to bahave i that manner. You approach them after completion of your account opening. They will tell you that your money will be refunded to you zerodha account but my refund was credited to my account from where it had deducted.

Listen i’m new trader and also student your app kite has a problem on limit sell and buy order only market order will execute but not limit order. It is very sad that due to this problem i had to suffered loss.
