By Bharath Rajeswaran
May 14 (Reuters) - MSCI included two Indian companies fertilisers maker Coromandel International CORF.NS and beauty products retailer Nykaa FSNE.NS to its Global Standard index earlier on Wednesday, as part of its May 2025 index rejig.
No Indian stock has been deleted from the key global index. The changes will come into effect as of the markets close on May 30.
The inclusion could bring passive inflows worth $216 million-$227 million into Coromandel and $172 million - $181 million into Nykaa, according to IIFL Alternate Research and JM Financial estimates.
MSCI also added Coromandel and airport operator GMR Airports GMRI.NS into its India domestic index, while removing auto parts maker Sona BLW Precision Forgings SONB.NS.
While the flagship Global Standard index and Indian domestic indexes only saw minor tweaks, MSCI added 11 new stocks to its global small-cap index and deleted 21 stocks.
The more specific MSCI India domestic small-cap index saw the addition of 12 stocks and removal of 21 stocks.
Besides the additions, drug maker Cipla CIPL.NS, telecom infrastructure provider Indus Towers INUS.NS and textiles and chemicals maker Grasim Industries GRAS.NS are likely to see passive inflows of $33 million-$45 million, $36 million-$40 million and about $17 million due to the increase in their weights in the Global Standard index.
Astral could see outflows worth $15 million-$17 million due to weight reduction, according to IIFL Alternate Research and JM Financial estimates.
India's weight in the MSCI Global Standard index rose marginally to 19.4%, according to the IIFL Alternate Research. India had a weightage of about 19% in the index as of the previous revision in February.

Delhi airport operator pauses runway upgrade after flight delays invite criticism
Hundreds of flights were delayed on Sunday
DIAL cites adverse wind patterns for delays
Passengers express frustration over lengthy flight delays on social media
Civil aviation minister chairs meeting after delays
Adds details on minister meeting in bullets, paragraph 6
By Abhijith Ganapavaram
NEW DELHI, April 21 (Reuters) - The operator of Delhi International Airport, one of the world's busiest airports, has paused works to upgrade one of its runways after passengers criticised lengthy flight delays, throwing the spotlight on increasing air traffic congestion in major cities in India.
Data from Flightradar24 showed about 400 arrivals and 500 departures were delayed on Sunday - about 60% and 76% of total flights, respectively - which Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) said was in part due to adverse wind patterns.
DIAL, which is majority owned by GMR Airports GMRI.NS, had shut one of its runways earlier this month to upgrade a system that helps aircraft land safely in low-visibility conditions. The airport has four runways in total.
DIAL will now resume operations on the runway in the first week of May after postponing remaining upgrade activities "for a month or so," it said in a post on X early on Monday. The upgrade works had come ahead of the busy summer travel season in India.
Passengers on social media complained of flights being delayed for hours on Sunday, both in the ground and in the air, raising concerns about stress on pilots.
India's civil aviation minister Ram Mohan Naidu on Monday chaired a meeting attended by government, airport and airline officials to address challenges being faced by Delhi International Airport, according to a government statement.
DIAL has pushed back against criticism in a series of X posts, saying plans for runway upgrades were done in consultation with airlines and other stakeholders over four months ago. It said adverse wind conditions had also played a role in the delays.
"When these easterly wind situations have been arising in the past few days...airlines have been advised, in accordance with pre-agreed plans, to adjust flight schedules. However, there was minimal to no changes made," DIAL said.
Delhi airport handled about 78 million passengers in 2024, making it the ninth busiest airport in the world, according to Airports Council International, as air travel booms in India post the pandemic.
To handle the surge in air travel, government authorities have planned for second airports that would serve congested cities such as Mumbai and Delhi. More airports would also accommodate the hundreds of aircraft ordered by domestic airlines IndiGo and Air India Group.

India's Delhi airport operator sues government over flights from defence airbase
By Abhijith Ganapavaram and Arpan Chaturvedi
NEW DELHI, March 17 (Reuters) - The operator of the Indian capital's international airport, majority owned by GMR Airports GMRI.NS, is suing the government for allowing commercial flights from a nearby defence aerodrome, legal papers show in a case to be heard on Monday.
The airport is one of India's busiest, with about 73.6 million passengers using it last year, though it made a loss of $21 million because of higher government fees. In contrast, by Sunday, the number of airbase users was about 1,400.
The Delhi airport will become "economically and financially unviable," after the government permitted commercial flights from the defence airbase in Ghaziabad, Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) said in the March 10 lawsuit.
In the suit, which Reuters is the first to report, DIAL told the Delhi High Court the government breached aviation rules barring a new airport within an aerial distance of 150 km (90 miles) of an existing one, unless there is passenger demand.
The state-run Airports Authority of India also has a stake in DIAL. India's civil aviation ministry did not immediately respond to e-mails seeking comment.
DIAL seeks to overturn the government's decision, and cites media reports for its contention that flights by Air India Express began operating in March from the Hindon Airforce Station, about 30 km (19 miles) from the Delhi airport.
DIAL is represented by Trilegal, a law firm based in India.

ADIA to invest $750 mln in debt of India's GMR Group
Recasts throughout, adds details on investment, background on aviation industry
Oct 23 (Reuters) - Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA), the UAE's largest sovereign wealth fund, will invest about $750 million in the debt of India's GMR Group, giving it a foothold in one of the world's fastest-growing aviation markets.
The investment will also allow the Indian company to reduce the pledged shareholding on its airports business.
ADIA has invested in structured debt instruments of a unit of GMR Enterprises (GEPL), the holding company of GMR Group. GMR Enterprises owns a roughly 25% stake in GMR Airports GMRI.NS.
The funds will be used to refinance all external debt of GMR Enterprises, which is looking to lower its pledge on the shareholding of GMR Airports "significantly", GMR Group said in an exchange filing.
GMR Enterprises' total debt had increased nearly 4% year-on-year to 44.77 billion rupees ($532.5 million), according to its latest annual report.
"This investment from ADIA will facilitate the repayment of all external debt at GEPL, strengthening our ability to support the continued growth of GMR Airports," said GMR Group Corporate Chairman Kiran Grandhi.
India's domestic passenger traffic is expected to double to 300 million by 2030.

New Delhi's domestic airport terminal likely to be shut for a few weeks, sources say
By Rishika Sadam and Aditi Shah
NEW DELHI, July 1 (Reuters) - New Delhi's main domestic terminal is likely to remain shut for a few weeks with debris still scattered outside the airport following last week's roof collapse, two sources with direct knowledge of the matter told Reuters on Monday.
A portion of the roof, canopy and several beams at the domestic terminal 1 collapsed after heavy rain in the Indian capital on Friday, killing one person, crushing cars and disrupting flights ever since.
The incident has put a spotlight on challenges Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government faces to overhaul infrastructure projects and has raised concerns about lax regulation and compliance issues.
The recently expanded terminal is mostly used by low-cost carriers IndiGo INGL.NS and SpiceJet SPJT.BO, and has a capacity to handle 40 million passengers annually, but its closure is set to increase pressure on two other terminals from where domestic flights also operate.
A source at GMR Airports Infrastructure GMRI.NS, which operates the airport, said "it could take few weeks, if the issue is small but very likely that it could take beyond a month if the problem is major".
"No matter how much time it takes, the terminal will not be re-opened until everything has been checked thoroughly," the person added.
GMR said in a statement that it was "too early" to provide details of when the terminal could resume operations.
Delhi airport handles 1,400 flights a day across its three terminals. Flight operations from T1 were currently limited to less than 15% of the total as they were gradually resuming after the recent expansion and refurbishment.
More than 22,000 passengers have been affected in the past three days, with around 90 flights moved to other terminals, government data shows.
On Monday, a Reuters photographer was not permitted to enter the accident site as the area has been cordoned off by authorities.
The second source said that the debris would not be removed until an inspection was complete, which was likely to take a few weeks.
IndiGo and SpiceJet said their passengers were being informed about terminal changes.
However, on Monday, two passengers told Reuters near T1 they had no information on any change in their departure terminal. "I'm running late and it will affect my timing to board my flight," said Satyam, a 22-year old student who only gave his first name.

Indian airports' FY25 profit to grow 35% on strong demand, says CAPA India
Adds background on Indian aviation market, airports, exec quote paragraphs 3-7, 8-9
By Shivansh Tiwary and Nandan Mandayam
NEW DELHI, June 7 (Reuters) - India's airports are likely to report strong pre-tax profit growth in the fiscal year ended 2025, a top consultancy said on Friday, as demand for air travel stays robust and the country aims to become a major global aviation hub.
The airport industry's pre-tax profit will rise to 103.7 billion rupees ($1.24 billion), up about 35% from 76.8 billion rupees a year ago, aviation consultancy CAPA India's Vice President Paramprit Singh Bakshi said at an industry event in New Delhi.
Operators' revenue is forecast to grow 14.8% in the current year, helped by steady domestic passenger growth and a quick-paced rebound in international travel.
"All airports have seen very, very robust international recovery, especially from the perspective of post COVID," Bakshi said.
Indian airport operators have also benefitted as the government has driven investments to develop new terminals and refurbish existing ones.
Most hubs are run by the state-owned Airports Authority of India (AAI) but GMR Airports GMRA.NS, which runs the country's busiest airport in capital New Delhi, the Adani Group and Fairfax India FIHu.TO are key private players.
The world's most populous nation expects to have 350 airports by 2030, up from 144 in 2019, according to an earlier CAPA India estimate and government data.
As airlines like IndiGo INGL.NS and Air India begin to receive jets from their record orders and as newer airports start operations, domestic passenger traffic would hit 600 to 700 million per year, CAPA India said.
