India has made remarkable progress in making financial transactions easier over the last decade. We can move money instantly, invest, access credit and buy all kinds of financial products digitally.<\/span><\/p>\n

But as access has increased, understanding our own financial lives has somehow become more complicated.<\/span><\/p>\n

For most of us, our lives are spread across multiple bank accounts, credit cards, mutual funds, stocks, fixed deposits, loans and insurance policies. Very few products help you step back and understand where your money is, where it is going, what has changed and what actually needs your attention.<\/span><\/p>\n

This is the problem <\/span>Fold<\/b><\/a> is trying to solve, and we are excited to back them.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

From tracking money to understanding it<\/h2>\n

Fold started by solving a simple problem, giving people one place to understand their bank accounts, transactions and spending without maintaining spreadsheets or doing it manually.<\/span><\/p>\n

Today, users can bring together their bank accounts, credit cards, loans, and investments, understand their spending, search across years of transactions, track recurring expenses, and organise their financial lives. Sounds like a simple problem, right?\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Fold is built on India\u2019s Account Aggregator ecosystem, allowing users to provide consent to access financial information directly from regulated financial institutions. For a product that aims to understand someone\u2019s financial life over many years, trust, privacy, and user control have to be fundamental to how it is built. But bringing all this information together is only the starting point. The way Fold thinks about this is about what becomes possible once a product has enough context to understand someone\u2019s financial life.<\/span><\/p>\n

Instead of navigating multiple apps, statements and spreadsheets, you should be able to understand how your spending has changed, how your investments are performing, what recurring expenses you\u2019re still paying for, what has changed in your finances this month and what deserves your attention.<\/span><\/p>\n

Over time, Fold wants to move from <\/span>awareness to understanding and, eventually, to action<\/b>: first helping people see their complete financial picture, then helping them understand what matters within it, and eventually helping them make better financial decisions and get things done when they choose to.<\/span><\/p>\n

A financial companion<\/h2>\n

This is why the Fold team increasingly thinks of the product not simply as a personal finance dashboard, but as a <\/span>financial companion<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

This also extends beyond individual finances. Money in India is often managed together, with people helping their parents, spouses and families manage their finances. Fold is building for these relationships as well, while gradually bringing more of a person\u2019s financial life across investments, credit, insurance and other financial products into one place.<\/span><\/p>\n

None of this works without trust, which is why Fold has been deliberate about privacy, consent and giving users control over their information.<\/span><\/p>\n

Built for the long term<\/h2>\n

Akash, Nishant and Utkarsh have been building together for years, and Fold itself has been built patiently with a relatively small team and a deeply engaged community of users.<\/span><\/p>\n

That patience shows in the product. The team obsesses over how financial information is presented, how interactions feel, how complicated concepts can be made easier to understand, and whether adding something genuinely makes someone\u2019s financial life better.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

India doesn\u2019t just need more ways to transact, invest, borrow or buy financial products. As our financial lives become more digital and more complex, there is an equally large opportunity to build products that help people understand everything they already have and make better decisions with it.<\/span><\/p>\n

That is the journey Fold is on, and we are excited to welcome Akash, Nishant, Utkarsh and the Fold team to the Rainmatter family.<\/span><\/p>\n

We started Fold because we felt personal finance had become increasingly fragmented. While the fintech market is full to the brim with products, almost none do the job that arguably matters most: helping you understand your entire financial life and get a clearer sense of where you stand and where you\u2019re headed.<\/span><\/p>\n

We want Fold to become that financial companion: a product that understands the context of your money, helps you make sense of it, surfaces things that deserve your attention and, over time, helps you make better financial decisions and get things done.<\/span><\/p>\n

We\u2019ve been building together for a long time, and we\u2019re still very early in what we want Fold to become. Having Rainmatter and Zerodha alongside us for the next part of this journey means a lot, and we\u2019re grateful to have partners who share our long-term vision for what personal finance can become in India.<\/span><\/p>\n
