Many assume that if they\u2019ve made losses, they don\u2019t need to file\u2014but that\u2019s not true. Skipping it could still attract a notice from the Income Tax Department.<\/p>\n<p>We also know tax filing can feel complicated, which is why we\u2019ve built detailed reports on Console to make the process simpler. Here\u2019s a quick overview of the reports available and how they can help you file your taxes with ease.<\/p>\n<p><iframe width=\"100%\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Abam2v1pY5Q\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3>Tax profit and loss statement<\/h3>\n<p>The Tax P&amp;L statement is your go-to report. It gives you a breakdown of:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Intraday equity trades<\/li>\n<li>F&amp;O trades for all segments<\/li>\n<li>Capital gains from delivery trades<\/li>\n<li>Profits and losses for the financial year, and all the charges<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This report also includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Trade-wise P&amp;L for all segments<\/li>\n<li>Instrument-wise and trade-wise turnover as per Section 44AB, to help check if a tax audit is needed<\/li>\n<li>All dividends earned during the year, which must be reported under &#8220;Income from other sources&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>All other credits and debits not in the contract note\u2014like DP charges, account maintenance fees, and payment gateway charges<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><strong>We have made new additions to the Tax P&amp;L report:<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Trade-wise charges:<\/strong> You can now see exactly how much brokerage, taxes, and fees you have paid per trade across all segments, such as equity, F&amp;O, currency, and commodity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/zerodha.com\/z-connect\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/image-24.png\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Separate equity and non-equity details:<\/strong> The report now shows details for equity and non-equity instruments separately. For example, if you traded in Infosys and Liquid or Gold ETFs, you will see equity trades and trades for non-equity instruments like Liquid and Gold ETFs shown separately, as they are taxed differently.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/zerodha.com\/z-connect\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/image-23.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Updated tax rate calculations<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We have updated the Tax P&amp;L report to show pre- and post-23rd July 2024 tax changes. Before 23rd July 2024, LTCG on equity and equity mutual funds above \u20b91 lakh was taxed at 10%, and STCG was taxed at 15%.<\/p>\n<p>From 23rd July 2024 onwards, LTCG is now taxed at 12.5%, and STCG at 20%. Therefore, the report clearly separates your gains based on these timelines to make filing accurate.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Buyback taxation changes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There has been a change in taxation for buybacks, too. For buybacks before 1st October 2024, the company paid the buyback tax. For buybacks after 1st October 2024, the tax liability falls on you, the shareholder. The amount you receive is treated as a deemed dividend and taxed according to your income tax slab.<\/p>\n<p>The Tax P&amp;L report shows separate entries for all the buybacks, allowing you to easily separate pre- and post-October 2024 buyback trades.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/support.zerodha.com\/category\/console\/reports\/taxation\/articles\/i-need-a-profit-and-loss-report-for-a-tax-audit-where-can-i-get-this-from\">Download Tax P&amp;L report<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Other helpful reports<\/h3>\n<p>Along with the Tax P&amp;L, there are several other reports on Console that can make tax filing easier.<\/p>\n<h4>Contract notes<\/h4>\n<p>A contract note is a legal record of all trades executed on a given day. It shows order details\u2014like price, quantity, time, and charges. These are especially useful if your CA or auditor asks for trade confirmations or proof of costs. On Console, you can download contract notes for up to one year at a time.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/support.zerodha.com\/category\/console\/reports\/contract-note\/articles\/where-can-i-get-the-contract-notes-for-the-trades-i-ve-taken\">Download contract notes.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/zerodha.com\/z-connect\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/image6.gif\" \/><\/p>\n<h4>Tradebook<\/h4>\n<p>The tradebook lists every trade you\u2019ve executed within a chosen segment (equity, F&amp;O, commodities, etc.) for a given period. It helps reconcile transactions with your P&amp;L and is often used to verify turnover calculations or when cross-checking entries with your broker statement.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/support.zerodha.com\/category\/console\/reports\/other-queries\/articles\/where-can-i-see-all-the-trades-i-ve-taken-for-a-particular-period\">Download tradebook<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/zerodha.com\/z-connect\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/image3-2.gif\" \/><\/p>\n<h4>Funds statement<\/h4>\n<p>This report tracks the movement of money in your Zerodha account\u2014fund transfers, margin blocked and released, refunds, charges, and settlements. It consolidates all trades, corporate actions, brokerage, taxes, and charges across segments.
