You can also save all your financial documents there.<\/p>\n<p>Not just that, in your absence, your family doesn\u2019t need to struggle to get access to your financial assets. Instead, everything &#8211; from stocks and mutual funds to insurance and home loans &#8211; is accessible in one place, DigiLocker.<\/p>\n<p>For your nominee to access your information, you have to fetch and store your financial documents in DigiLocker while you are alive.<\/p>\n<p>This blog gives you a step-by-step guide to setting it up, fetching investment details, and ensuring your family can access them when needed.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Fetch data<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>DigiLocker is a Government of India digital wallet where you can securely store electronic versions of official documents. These documents are legally valid, just like physical originals.<\/p>\n<p>You can access DigiLocker via its mobile app or website, using your mobile number and a 4-digit security PIN.<\/p>\n<p>When you invest, your investments are routed through a depository, RTA (Registrar and Transfer Agent), or CRA (Central Recordkeeping Agency). These are intermediaries who facilitate the processing, recordkeeping, and reporting of your investments.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s how you can search for your financial holdings inside DigiLocker:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>For stocks, search for depositories like:\n<ul>\n<li>CDSL<\/li>\n<li>NSDL<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>When searching in the app, always use the full names instead of abbreviations. For example, type \u201cCentral Depository Services Limited\u201d instead of \u201cCDSL\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>When you generate a report here, you\u2019ll likely get a consolidated statement of stocks including non-demat mutual fund units. Also, since it&#8217;s early days of this feature, we noticed that results may vary person to person.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>For mutual funds, search for RTAs (Registrar &amp; Transfer Agents) like:\n<ul>\n<li>CAMS<\/li>\n<li>KFintech<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you don\u2019t have a demat account, you can still access your mutual fund portfolio via CAMS or KFintech. Here, you have to generate reports from both RTAs separately.<\/p>\n<p>Enter your PAN and registered email. If you\u2019ve forgotten it, check the CRA portal or the intermediary through which you invested in NPS.<\/p>\n<p>If your CRA is KFintech, you can find your PRAN <a href=\"https:\/\/nps.kfintech.com\/panseeding\/findmypran\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Bank a\/c and insurance <\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Getting a bank account statement is not a big deal, but you may not get your FD details. You\u2019ll receive an interest certificate, though. Input details are policy number and mobile number.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Adding a Nominee <\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>The nominee will be able to view your financial records only in the event of your death.<\/p>\n<p>DigiLocker will automatically notify them via SMS and email when it receives a death notification from the death register or KYC registration agencies.<\/p>\n<p>Nominees can then verify their identity and access the deceased person\u2019s financial information through their own DigiLocker account.<\/p>\n<p>To add a nominee, you\u2019ll need:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Name of the nominee<\/li>\n<li>Aadhaar number<\/li>\n<li>Mobile number<\/li>\n<li>Email ID<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-411406\" src=\"https:\/\/zerodha.com\/z-connect\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Add-Nominee.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1015\" height=\"787\" srcset=\"https:\/\/zerodha.com\/z-connect\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Add-Nominee.png 1015w, https:\/\/zerodha.com\/z-connect\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Add-Nominee-300x233.png 300w, https:\/\/zerodha.com\/z-connect\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Add-Nominee-768x595.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1015px) 100vw, 1015px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>You can also add more than one nominee.<\/p>\n<p>Note that the nominee you assign in DigiLocker is not the same as the nominee registered with your mutual funds, demat account, or bank.
